Publisher's Summary

From the bestselling author of The Ravenhood Trilogy comes an angsty, steamy journey filled with love, loss, and self discovery.

Thirty years ago, my father became the other half of a broken love story.

A relationship he’s kept hidden for decades.

Upon unearthing his secret through a series of emails in our paper’s archives, I began my search for the truth. Haunted by my father’s love story, and in my quest for answers, I never imagined I would discover a love of my own. Or that my love for Easton Crowne would be key in discovering the reason behind what split our parents up.

Doomed from the start and knowing the havoc our relationship would inevitably wreak on our families, I could never have prepared for the toll it would take or the cost of the truth.

But in order to find our ending, we had to go back to their beginning.

My name is Natalie Butler, and this is my star-crossed love story.

Wooow

This book broke me in ways I didn't know was possible. It takes place 30 years after the previous story, and I went into this new romance super skeptical thinking that it wouldn't be possible to fall in love with the new characters, nor embrace this new love! Boy, how I was wrong!
The amount I cried at times made me question my sanity. The intensity of how everything happens, ends, the dialogues GOD the dialogues, some conversations seemed like they were written for me. I identified a lot, and now that l've finished I'm at that stage where I need to move on with my life, but I can't get this book out of my head. I'm glad the author released a novella, but before I start I'm going to put on the Spotify playlist with the songs from this series and embrace the 15-year-old girl that lives inside me, and only appears once in awhile.

Love hurts so bad

Well…Kate Stewart has done it again. This book made me sob no less than three times and made my heart literally hurt at times. She writes angst better than anyone. And Maxine & Joe’s performances in duet narration made the story feel so real. The way they both can evoke so much emotion in a sigh or plea just breaks my heart.

Just so good

Maxine and Joe breathe air into these characters in a way that feels so real and raw and emotional. I was hooked.

Not her best

First let me say Joe and Maxine could narrate a phone book and I’d love it! Their narration was 10 stars!

But the premise of this story was very weak and I had trouble getting over that. It was also a bit too insta-love for me. Natalie’s character annoyed me for the first two thirds of the story. On the other hand, Easton’s character was fire throughout! So I didn’t love the first 60-70% of the book. But Kate definitely came through in the last 30% with brilliant angst and conflict. I swear she’s not happy unless she rips your heart out and leaves you bawling. I live for that in her books.
