About this listen

Zane was driving home from work when the world changed.

Thousands of dungeons spawned at once, taking up every inch of Earth—including the road he’s driving on. He wakes up to a totaled car and a broken leg, facing down a goblin trying to spear him through the guts. And that's just the start of it.

But to Zane’s surprise, he finds himself enjoying this brutal new world. While others cower and hide, he goes on the hunt. He unlocks a unique Berserker skill—the more damage he takes, the stronger he gets.

Soon he’s beating down monster hordes, solo clearing dungeons, unlocking powerful Skills, and striking out to conquer more and more.

It turns out Zane was born to fight. And in this new world rife with terrible monsters and awesome powers alike, where opportunity is anyone’s for the taking, he’ll thrive.

An action-packed blend of LitRPG Apocalypse and Xianxia with 2 million views on Royalroad. Perfect for fans of Defiance of the Fall, The Primal Hunter, and Road to Mastery!

Crazy but fun.

I read the books and liked them enough to get the audiobooks. If you’re good at suspending belief like you have to be to enjoy this type of book it’s very entertaining. I thought the narrator did I really good job. I enjoyed how well he did Zane.

Adastra339, Christian Gilligan's, & Overall Story are fantastic!

Fast pace but not to fast, great character building, & not to much time into levels, skill, laws, essence, etc. The story just draws you in & you want to hear more. Your main character Zane (Savage Sage) is a beast but not a complete emotionless, unempathetic, barbarian. He just likes hitting shit...alot! But you'll soon realize he has mad skill & is insightful & intuitive. Like I said, he's not an idiot, far from it in fact. Also, Avery is my next favorite character, her voice is a bit naisaly but you soon forget about it. There's lots of character dialogue too which is SOOOO REFRESHING. I get so sick of stories where the author just explains opposed to character dialogue explains what's happening (Ie-Zane gets pissed off at the narcistic merchant baring his way or ' Get out of my way you arrogant narcissist or I'm gonna beat your head in ' said Zane. Fuck ya! Lol. Much more exciting right...)

It made me smile and laugh

The book was really good. The characters are interesting and the fights were pretty fun. The main character made me smile and chuckle quite a few times. I felt like the story slowed down and dragged in a few spots but overall I am looking forward to the next book.

Discount Defier

The similarities between this and 'Defiance of the fall' are so blatant the book seemed like a bad parody at times. I even referred to the main character as "Zach" instead of "Zane" several times when talking to others. Its not a horrible book by any means but if your looking for anything new look elsewhere, if your addicted to the genre (like me) and don't mind listening to VERY mid books from time to time, sure pick it up.
The bland writing even affects how the Narrator sounds at times. Hearing Christian Gilliland say stuff like 'sick' or 'swag' unironically makes me cringe a little. He is a fantastic Narrator, but this book would have done better with someone younger sounding with a little bit more life in the reading, especially during fight scenes.
The book lacks an identity.

unusual main character

I couldnt relate well to the strong but silent main character, but i still enjoyed the story. The characters were all very distinct and believably realistic. The main character developed well through the story.

The progression details did annoy me a bit, but i was able to put those aside and found myself laughing often, especially later on.
