About this listen
Fleeing from a vengeful king has sent the former NPCs across Solium's borders, into the kingdom of Alcatham. As wanted fugitives, they head to the small farming village of Briarwillow, hoping to blend in, lay low, and avoid trouble at all costs. Unfortunately, Briarwillow has problems all its own, and its troubles quickly become theirs. If they hope to survive long enough to escape, they'll have to tackle an all-but-forgotten mystery buried at the town's border as well as seek the wisdom of a mysterious group of mages. With time, magic, and at least one god against them, it will take everything they've got to save Briarwillow - and themselves.

Story
What happens when the haggling is done and the shops are closed? When the quest has been given, the steeds saddled, and the adventurers are off to their next encounter? They keep the world running, the food cooked, and the horses shoed, yet what adventurer has ever spared a thought or concern for the Non-Player Characters? In the town of Maplebark, four such NPCs settle in for a night of actively ignoring the adventurers drinking in the tavern when things go quickly and fatally awry.

Story
Gifted with meta-human powers, Tori Rivas kept away from the limelight, preferring to work as a thief in the shadows. But when she's captured trying to rob a vault that belongs to a secret guild of villains, she's offered a hard choice: prove she has what it takes to join them or be eliminated. Apprenticed to one of the world's most powerful (and supposedly dead) villains, she is thrust into a strange world where the lines that divide superheroes and criminals are more complex than they seem.

Knowledge is power. That would be the motto of Lander University, had it not been snatched up and used to death by others long before the school was founded. For while Lander offers a full range of courses to nearly all students, it also offers a small number of specialty classes to a very select few. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop students with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes.

Another Amazing Story
This author never ceases to amuse and amaze me. He writes riveting characters that you find yourself invested in and emotionally attached to. He weaves a story that you not only want to follow, but to return for seconds if not thirds. a definite recommendation from a steadfast fan.

Loved it!!!
Finished the audio book in no time. Can't wait for the next one!
The narrator did a great job! I marvel at his ability to make the different voices. (I do miss his voice for Grumble from the first book though.)

Fantastic!
I'm not easily a fan of these Fantasy books where the Protagonists get sucked into a game, but this writer has hooked me. He has found a way to make not only the adventurers quests interesting, but found a way to spin it into a Multiverse sort of thing where reality is shifting slightly in our world, as if the two worlds are meeting. This series has peaked my interest and enjoyment more than any other has in the last 6 months. Definately worth a listen. I recommend to start with book one. Absolutely fantastic!

Stellar book!
This was such a fantastic book. I cannot day enough positives about Drew Hayes as an author. His narratives are compelling, his characters fascinating and each story takes the reader on such a thrilling adventure that you’d be hard pressed to put the book down. #Audible1

Just couldn't stop listening
I was so completely taken by the first book. Having heard nothing about NPC before, I just gave it a chance. A few chapters in and I knew I would enjoy the story. The narrative and the audio performance was fantastic! The story gives you a lot to pay attention to as well. From character personal challenges and growth to what is actually going on in the NPC's world and how different powers are changing things. The cliffhanger in this one just makes you want more. Well done Drew Hayes! I was a fan overnight. #Audible1
