About this listen

What stories do you need to tell, and how do you tell them?

Stories That Stick provides a clear framework of ideals and a concise set of actions for you to take complete control of your own story, utilizing the principles behind the world’s most effective business storytelling strategies.

Professional storyteller and nationally-known speaker Kindra Hall reveals the four unique stories you can use to differentiate, captivate, and elevate:

  • The Value Story—convince customers they need what you provide.
  • The Founder Story—persuade investors and customers your organization is worth the investment.
  • The Purpose Story—align and inspire your employees and internal customers.
  • The Customer Story—allow those who use your product or service to share their authentic experiences with others.

Telling these stories well is a simple, accessible skill anyone can develop. With case studies, company profiles, and anecdotes backed with original research, Hall presents storytelling as the underutilized talent that separates the good from the best in business.

Stories That Stick offers specific, actionable steps listeners can take to find, craft, and leverage the stories they already have and simply aren’t telling. Every person, every organization has at least four stories at their disposal. Will you tell yours?

What the critics say

"In my business, telling a personal story is the essence to authenticity, and proof that what I do and who I help really achieves results. Stories share a journey that me and my team can identify with and provide a way to personally connect with our clients."--Autumn Calabrese, Entrepreneur, fitness and nutrition expert

"Storytelling is an art form often lost today among snippets, sound bites, and buzzword copy. Which is unfortunate, because story is how we've connected with each other since language began. In Stories That Stick, Kindra Hall beautifully weaves the argument for story with the best way to craft one. Advice every business owner and influencer needs to understand."--Mel Robbins, author of the international best seller The 5 Second Rule

"Here's the story: Your business is in its current state, you buy this book, read it in one sitting like I did, have your mind blown, your business greatly improves. End scene. Lots of people tell stories, a few are great at it and one can show you how to do it. That's the story of Kindra and this book."--Scott Stratten, best-selling, award-winning author and Hall of Fame speaker/storyteller

I've tried others on storytelling, this one best

Storytelling is a word that is thrown around quite a bit these days for anyone trying to build an audience or a business. The problem is most guidance on learning to tell stories is done by someone who is already good at it and not explaining how to acquire the skill. Almost like if Edison were to explain how he made the light bulb. It takes some characteristics to get a WAY of thinking.

Kindra is the best so far. She breaks down story telling into different types of stories, because audiences are different based on what kind of business or influence you are trying to build. Each category she covers what are some suggested ideas to get started. Everyone has a story to tell, we just need to realize that it's worth telling and will help us connect with people.

This takes a lot of practice which most people are not willing to do, but this book will point you in the right direction. Kindra's voice sounds a bit like a teenage valley girl, but it's only a minor setback!

A captivating & compelling story ... About stories

After seeing Kendra give a key note, I had to go out and buy this book. It's delivered on every fast that I expected it too, and then some. She clearly laid out when stories work, how stories work, give examples, and really changed my mind about the value worse and potential for stories in a more business like environment, specifically in the competitive proposals world.

I will be meeting with my marketing manager to have her listen to this book is well, so we can start formulating an approach to build some stories that we can use in the videos on our website, in our General presentations, and most importantly I believe, in our competitive proposal short listing presentation process.

We have long been ooking for an edge to set us apart in a very small and highly competitive market, & I feel very strongly that we have just found our magic wand.

Kendra, thank you so very much for doing what you had to do to get you to where you are now, in that place where you can deliver the message so I could hear it.

good, memorable tidbits of storytelling advice

Good narration and content. Not groundbreaking but packaged and delivered in a straightforward, practical manner. Worth at least a few memorable takeaways that will be useful in everyday life. Unfortunately heavily focused on business applications.

A great book.

Great guide to creating stories. My only wish would've been a more hands on practical chapter but nevertheless this book leaves you with a great starting point for creating the stories that you need.
