Drew Hayes had an extraordinary talent for writing, what I consider, exceptionally long books that are also multi-parted or many books to one story line. And they are truly captivating!! What a spectacular story teller!!!

If you liked the first volume you'll find this one fine. I have some quibbles.

It relies heavily on the content of book one but does not not devote any time to a kind of "previously on Superpowereds" refresher. If there are, as in my case, many months between reads this is a hassle, forcing going back and thoroughly skimming the first for context.

I also don't like how this one ends. It *is* a complete story so I'm not down scoring, but keeping such huge story arcs open is needlessly frustrating.

Overall I still consider the purchase a good one. You get a good amount of entertainment that is not just filler. Drew creates clever characters with enough for the reader to care about without making it a burden or a demand for religious zeal.

It is for the most part just good fun with healthy scattering of surprises. So of course I bought Year 3. Not because of the cliffhanger shysterism but because I expect it to be equally entertaining.

Considering the first book (year 1) was my favorite fiction book I've read or listened to, I was a bit scared that book 2 might of dropped the ball a bit. Many authors tend to write something half assed because of the success of the first book. The 2nd book of the series however feels like a natural flow that's just as well thought out if not better than the previous book. At this point, I'm halfway through year 3 and I can already tell you that book 3 and 4 are just as amazing or going to be as amazing as any other book in this series... if not better. I'm a bit saddened by the fact that I'm currently listening to the best series that I'll probably listen to, in the same way you feel when you watch GoT and are nearing the end. I haven't looked it up since I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but I'm praying that he will be adding far more books to this series than just 4.

This was a good follow up to the first novel I'm the series. Things escalated nicely, and the story was engaging the entire way through. I recommend this book.

The performance is near perfect, the characters are rich and continually developing and growing. A great take on the superhero world and does a good job of commenting on our society too.
