About this listen

Thea Landry has always known her place in modern-day society. It's somewhere just above the trash can her mother dumped her in as a newborn, but below the class where much comes easy. With her tattered shoes and bargain-bin clothes, her life has never been full of glamour.

So when a rich and charismatic man takes interest, she doesn't fool herself into thinking their encounter is anything more than a one-night stand. Months later, she's kicking herself for not getting his phone number. Or his last name. She's given up hope of seeing him ever again.

Until one day, years later, Logan Kendrick waltzes into her life once more and turns everything she's built upside down. This time around, she won't make the same mistake. She's going to fight to keep him in her life - not for herself.

But for their daughter.

3.5 Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Tattered was overall, a light-hearted and cute read. While it started out strong and the story flowed at a good pace, it never fully captivated me. The narration was fairly good, though i found the voice actor chosen for Logan (Aaron Shedlock) suited his character more than the voice actor chosen for Thea (Maxine Mitchell).

There were sweet and tender moments as Logan got to know his daughter, and I loved that. He tried so hard to win Charlie's affections from the first chance he was given. He accepted she was his daughter without question, and that was admirable.
Thea was hard working, independent, and a thoughtful and protective mom. Her priority was her daughter's happiness, and she was always looking out for whatever was in her best interest. Individually, she was a character I had no trouble liking or connecting with.
It was the connection between Logan and Thea that I found myself unable to invest in. The depth of there desires and feelings for each other just didn't quite shine through for me.

There's also a bit of family feuding and some disagreements to add a bit more conflict to the storyline, and the little bit of drama was a nice addition to an otherwise fairly mellow and sweet novel. I did however feel as though the threatening email part of the plot didn't do anything for the story, and could have been left out entirely.

There were parts of the book that were entertaining, and parts that didn't wow me, but overall Tattered was a pleasant read.

Not going on the book boyfriend list

I had a hard time getting into this story when the male romantic interest was such a red flag. He didn’t listen to Thea when she clearly expressed where she wanted to live and it felt more like he was trying to fit her and his child into a box rather than become part of their life. Also the stocker part at the very end felt totally unnecessary and did nothing to add to the plot.

Great story!

I really enjoyed this story overall. The ending was a little weird and I thought that the secondary storyline didn't really need to happen.

I love both of these narrators and they both did a fabulous job.

Disappointing /:

I am a little disappointed that I didn’t enjoy this book. I thought the beginning was starting out great, but as the story progressed, I got super annoyed with both characters. After a one night stand, six years later, and there’s a child involved you would think the reunion would either be kind of emotional or drawing lines of what to come in the relationship. But I felt like that wasn’t the case. Our female lead kind of just let him walk all over her and her boundaries with her child. And he was super selfish, and wanted to bring them into his world, but had no consideration for them and their thoughts. Especially with a six-year-old child involved! I just did not like the whole situation and where it was going. and near the end of the book was when she finally stood up for herself, and saying this is what I want and need. It was just a waste of time for me to sit through the whole book for her to say that within the last couple of chapters. And this just felt so unnecessary all of a sudden there was a stocker and I just was not feeling it.
