Publisher's Summary

Full of her trademark mix of unforgettable characters and heartbreaking secrets, The Butterfly Room is the new spellbinding, multi-generational story from Sunday Times best seller Lucinda Riley.

Posy Montague is approaching her 70th birthday. Still living in her beautiful family home, Admiral House, set in the glorious Suffolk countryside where she spent her own idyllic childhood catching butterflies with her beloved father, and raised her own children, Posy knows she must make an agonising decision.

The house is crumbling around her, and Posy knows the time has come to sell it. Then a face appears from the past - Freddie, her first love, who abandoned her and left her heartbroken 50 years ago.

Already struggling to cope with her son Sam’s inept business dealings and the sudden reappearance of her younger son, Nick, Posy is reluctant to trust in Freddie’s renewed affection. And unbeknownst to Posy, Freddie - and Admiral House - have a devastating secret to reveal....

Long to get action but worth the patience.

The story is all about non told stories, so at first it was a bit boring, but it get better and better till the end. I've got taken by the emotions and characters. Very good listening in the end.

Very impressive!

I don’t normally lean towards this genre but did so for a change. I was absolutely thrilled by the story and all of the characters who started to become very real to me in a short bit of time.

The narration was beyond wonderful. A warm, deep, soothing yet also chipper voice was a joy to listen to. If asked, I am not sure if I would be able to choose my favorite. The book or the narration.

I highly recommend this book.

Captivating

The story starts rather slowly then accelerates to be my favorite Lucinda Riley book. The family dynamics, great sadness, and a happy ending rounds out to be a wonderful 17 hours of great listening.

Great book

Really enjoyed this book. The narrator took a bit getting used to at the beginning, as the voice didn’t strike me as one of a small child, however, once you realize you were listening to memories, it all seems OK. As you move through the book, the narrator really grows on you, the story is complex and has great twists and turns.

Not a great story. The narrator sounds so old.

I'm definitely struggling to finish this one. The narrator voice makes everyone sound alike .

meh

Pretty tame, everyone was so honorable and nice, even the wife beater was barely bad. Many "darling girl"s were said ad nauseam.
