Publisher's Summary

Hi, my name is Bree Camden, and I’m hopelessly in love with my best friend and star quarterback Nathan Donelson (so is half of America, judging by the tabloids and how much the guy dates). The first step is admitting it, right? Except, I can never admit it to him because he clearly doesn’t see me that way, and the last thing I want is for things to get weird between us. Nothing but good old-fashioned no-touching-the-sexiest-man-alive platonic friendship for us! Everything is exactly how I like it! Yes. Good. (I’m not crying; I’m just peeling an onion.)

Our friendship is going swimmingly until I accidentally spill my beans to a reporter over too much tequila, and now the world seems to think Nathan and I belong together. Oh, and did I mention we have to date publicly for three weeks until after the Super Bowl because we signed a contract with...oops, forgot I can’t tell anyone about that!

The bottom line is that my best friend is now smudging all the lines and acting very un-platonic, and I’m just trying to keep my body from bursting into flames every time he touches me. How am I going to make it through three weeks of fake dating Nathan without anything changing between us? Especially when it almost-sorta-kinda seems like he’s fighting for a completely different outcome?

Send help.

XO Bree

Bubbly, energetic and sweet

This is a straightforward rom com with an adorable, bubbly and energetic female lead that you will love. It’s exactly what you expect : tale of misunderstandings and a pair of people trying desperately to protect their long term friendship, while desperately trying to get out of the friend zone.

Biggest surprise: I loved the side characters of the other football players. The writing of how they attempt to support their friend in “getting his girl” is priceless.

One review commented that the performance was too high pitched, but the voice acting for me was spot on for the character portrayed. Absolute perfection for the character.

The male voice performance is to die for. One of my favourite actors, the only failing of this book is he doesn’t have more chapters. Because DAMN.

Special Romance

This is one of my favourite reads of the year. It’s cute, hilarious, sweet, and has a great romance. The book is easy to get into and read.

Bree and Nathan have known each other for roughly 10 years and have been in the friend zone the entire time. They each have feelings for the other but have never revealed them for their own reason. The characters are fully developed, and I enjoyed going on this journey with them. They grow as individuals and a couple from where they start at the beginning of the book to where they end up at the end. I loved their friendship, their easy banter and understanding of each other, even though during their story they realize that there are things they didn’t know about the other.

For the most part, the side characters in this story are fun, quirky, and loveable. They all play an important role in either the characters development or in the plot line, sometimes both. Those secondary characters that aren’t loveable, do get what they deserve and its fun watching it happen.

I listened to this book on audio and did it in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down as I was enjoying it so much. I just wanted to stay in this world with these characters and was disappointment when I got the end of the book. I loved the ending, and, in this case, it really worked for the story (for me). I love epilogues, because I love to see where the characters are years later, in this case the epilogue really could have just been another chapter as it was the next day.

The narrators did a really good job. They were easy to understand and follow – regardless of the speed at which I listened to the story. They also altered their voice enough that you could tell when they were speaking as a different character – whether male or female.

This book is closed door, although there are few kissing scenes. The two main tropes are Friends to Lovers and Sports Romance. It’s a contemporary romantic comedy. Even if you prefer opened door when it comes to the sex, I highly recommend this book. It’s a feel-good romance, that will have you laughing and enjoying the story.

Good Palate Cleanser

Cute story, though pretty predictable. Basically zero spice, but the banter was well written.
Got a little annoying how often they tried to convince themselves that the other wasn't interested.
The narration was great.

Heart Warming

Sweet romcoms are so fun and refreshing to read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“I think some things are worth waiting for, no matter how long it takes.” Sarah Adams, The Cheat Sheet 🖋

📖 It has friends to lovers, dual point of view, fake dating, and miscommunication. I know most people aren’t a fan of the miscommunication trope, I’m one of those people, but this book was still good. The miscommunication is set in a very obvious and funny way so I’m good with it.

It was FUN, CLEAN,and CUTE so if you’re looking for a light romcom I highly recommend this one! Also there are so many sweet and beautiful quotes in this story I love it.

🎧The audiobook narration was decent. It had both male and female actors for the dual point of view which I always appreciate.

Loved It

I’m not sure why but I wasn’t expecting much from this book, but I was completely wrong. I ended up loving this book and the narrators. The only thing I will say is that I feel like the last chunk of it seemed a bit rushed and I would have loved to have it spread out for a few more chapters.

Great narrating and cute story

This book was great! Narrators really encompassed the characters and bright then to life. The story was cute and had me rooting for the couple, and it had the perfect ending.

Storyline is good

The storyline was good and very funny in some places.

The female narrator in this drove me crazy. Her voice is so high-pitched I wanted to scratch out my ears. Did someone give her helium before she did narrating. This woman is not a good narrator. Not in the female and not in a male.
The one star I gave in the performance section is only for Teddy Hamilton
The male narrator was good not super good but good nonetheless.
