Finished the original three novels first, unnecessary, but I think gives more depth and love to the story.

Michael J. Sullivan has managed to craft a world, characters and plot (throughout all of his books) that easily rival other fantasy giants like Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings. His books are gripping and captivating throughout.

The Crown Tower was a fantastic introduction to the origins of Royce and Hadrian. I really enjoyed getting to see how these two very different characters first met and how their partnership began. Their personalities and the chemistry between them make the story incredibly entertaining.

The story has a great balance of adventure, action, humor, and character development. I especially enjoyed watching the relationship between Royce and Hadrian develop from an unlikely partnership into the friendship that eventually becomes the heart of the Riyria stories.

Tim Gerard Reynolds does an excellent job bringing the characters to life. His narration and character voices made the audiobook easy to get lost in.

I ended up listening to the entire Riyria series, and The Crown Tower made me appreciate the characters even more by showing where their story began. A very entertaining fantasy adventure with great characters, humor, and a friendship that carries the series.

I have started the Riyria storyline with this novel. This book is so well written and I love the interaction between Royce and Hadrian. The narrator is excellent and moves effortlessly through the many characters. So don’t miss out on a book as good as the Game of Thrones.

I really enjoyed getting to expiriences how the two main characters get to know each other. I also loved Gwen's story arc. She is so important yet we get so little of her in the other books.
