I give full credit to Mark Deakins for doing his best with this book but the writing style is simply not suited to reading aloud. It’s very disjointed, almost stream of consciousness. Many many one or two word sentences, and ideas that go in circles and off on tangents. Maybe it’s supposed to be a reflection of the main character’s state of mind but unfortunately it makes for very difficult listening.

Solid narration but the book is not suited to audio

No political or flag waving noise, just a great story to make a reader ponder what might become of any of us. Well told and believable.

This is a great book especially the first half. The sex scenes were written awkwardly and were a little cringe. What's cooler than a book about a post apocalyptic pilot? Worth the read.

I enjoyed the bittersweet ebb and flow. Dark and depressing moments woven together with the small joys that can too often be overlooked.
