About this listen
An accident leads to the discovery of a mysterious machine that has rested hidden deep underground for countless millennia. The machine awakens to begin issuing a series of increasingly alarming, if minor, omens. The omens turn out to be astonishingly accurate, and ever more ominous. As Zedd tries to figure out how to destroy the sinister device, the machine issues a cataclysmic omen involving Richard and Kahlan, foretelling an impending event beyond anyone’s ability to stop. As catastrophe approaches, the machine then reveals that it is within its power to withdraw the omen... In exchange for an impossible demand.

great story
this book keeps you wanting more. Once again Terry Goodkind hits another out of the park. All around good audio book.

Too short
This book was a bit of an odd departure for Goodkind, straying a little into the realm of science fiction. He seemed to struggle awkwardly with dialogue at times as well.
The narrator is talented and engaging but there is a lot of sharp sibilance that could be mitigated by better audio equipment and mixing.
That said, the book is enjoyable and entirely too short! I'm looking forward to the next in the series!

wrong place
I hate noticing small mistakes but at 4:37:09 he says "palace of the prophet's" when he means to say "people's palace"
This is so far my least favorite book. Some places are good but other places I had a hard time listening too. If I had to read it I probably would have given up and skipped it.

A good listen
Not Terry's best story, but a good listen. I hope the next book gets me back into the same rhythm as the Sword of Truth series did.

Awful book. Nothing like the rest of the series
After the death of Jagang the Justice, the book series following after are just awful. Lengthy preaches of nothing, repeat information that is so overwritten I practically can re-recite it by heart. omen machine, warheart, and third kingdom are not worth your time. just jump straight to first confessor.

what a mess
This book is a fine example of what happens when an author runs out of ideas and has a deadline.
Do these characters not trust each other after 12 books? Have they all lost 50 IQ points?
The machine turned on when Richard touched it but its not on now, what should we do? how about everything else for about 30 minutes of dialogue and then finally have Richard touch it again.
This is one of over a dozen similar things that occur.
