About this listen

From the internationally best-selling author of the Sword of Truth series comes a new Richard and Kahlan novella.

"They are the monsters under the bed when you are little, the shape just caught out of the corner of your eye when you thought you were alone, the shadow of something in a dark corner that surprises you and then isn't there. They stop you dead with a knot of unexpected terror in the pit of your stomach. We have all seen fleeting glimpses of them. Never long enough to see them as I saw them, but it was them. I recognized it the instant I saw it. We've all seen flashes of them, the dark shadow just out of sight. They could briefly terrify us before but never hurt us because they came from so far distant. They were never able to fully materialize in our world so we saw only transient glimpses of them, the shape of them if the light was just right, if the shadows were deep enough...if you were afraid enough. I think that the star shift has brought us closer to their realm so that they now have the power to step into our world and hurt us." (Kahlan Amnell)

A great beginning!

I found this show in my teens when they were on season two on tv. I have seen the show several times over the years and craved more. When I finally found the books I was hooked, now this part of the series is stunning! I do highly recommend this series of books,

Good beginning

This is the first chapter of the new book, where Terry is beginning to merge the idea of the predator race in the modern thriller books with the idea of the truth seeker. This is good. Looking in the abyss of the predator soul, and understanding the origins of this is most important.

Well done. And all true.

A new Richard Kahlan Story!

Finally a new story. I know it is a novella but I wish it was longer. I have missed the characters.

John Skelley is a great narrator. I have heard his work before an continues to help bring the characters to life.

Compelling.

Leaves one wanting for the next book.

Characters from the original canon are brought to life in a continuation of this wonderful and thrilling epic.

Not impressed a decline for sure

The story itself is pretty good my main issue derives from the fact that what was once a single book has been split into 5 parts.

Clearly this is a grab for money and i will not have it.

Here is my proof. Wizard's First Rule. 1 book. 1000 pages.

Stone of Tears 1 book. 1100 pages.

The scribbly man 1 book. 200 pages.

Really? I like Terry because a single book becomes an epic story which many side plots.

This is a departure from classic Terry. Someone is profiting big of off his name.

Something is wrong with American capitalism and this a representation of corporate greed.
