About this listen

An imprisoned prince. A vengeful queen. And a battle that will determine the future of Elfhame.

Prince Oak is paying for his betrayal. Imprisoned in the icy north and bound to the will of a monstrous new queen, he must rely on charm and calculation to survive. With High King Cardan and High Queen Jude willing to use any means necessary to retrieve their stolen heir, Oak will have to decide whether to attempt regaining the trust of the girl he’s always loved or to remain loyal to Elfhame and hand over the means to end her reign—even if it means ending Wren, too.

With a new war looming on the horizon and treachery lurking in every corner, neither Oak’s guile nor his wit will be enough to keep everyone he loves alive. It’s just a question of whom he will doom.

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black comes the stunning blood-soaked conclusion to the Stolen Heir duology.

Narrator left something to be desired. Story was alright

Some mispronunciation of common words and I left like some research could have been so on how previous narrators pronounced creature/character. All in all it wasn’t a bad book. I didn’t like it as much as previous books in this universe

I had high hopes but it was just kind of meh

After the Cruel Prince series and the first book of this duology, I was excited to see how it would all end. It was slow and a lot of the plot was unnecessary complications that were resolved way too easily considering the amount of damage they threaten to cause. The pacing was a touch slow for my tastes and I think it would have been better if the story was told in the first person narrative. It felt like so many scenes were just restating names that it would have been easier to feel like I was in the story, if it was all told through Oak’s first person perspective.

tedious

I love Holly blacks books but I didn't even finish this. the narrator was flat, the third person narrative made it less engaging and overall I found it unnecessarily complicated. I wanted to love it but it wasn't possible 😞
