Publisher's Summary
Two women, centuries apart, are joined through a tattered journal as they contend with God, husbands, and even themselves...until they fall into the arms of the One who loves them unconditionally.
Sierra Madrid's life has just been turned upside down when she discovers the handcrafted quilt and journal of her ancestor Mary Kathryn McMurray, a young woman who was uprooted from her home only to endure harsh conditions on the Oregon Trail. Though the women are separated by time and circumstance, Sierra discovers that many of the issues they face are remarkably similar. By following Mary Kathryn's example, Sierra learns to surrender to God?s sovereignty and unconditional love.

The beginning was a little slow, but afterwards I was so captured by the stories told. Well done :)

Great Story Buttt!!!!!
Ok great story , the way this book was written held the reader you wanted to know more. unfortunately I hated that maturity and development only came from the wife.Yes she was not perfect and in fact acted very immature;however , the book made it seems as if the husband’s only fault was not having the perfect wife. I needed more accountability and development from him as well. I loved that she found Jesus and helped her children to do the same but I also thought that as a wife her husband disrespected her and threw her away and thought he got a better replacement only to find out she in fact was a great woman. In my opinion the husband needed to show a lot more remorse and needed his come to Jesus moment .

Love the Journey
I have read this book many times on paper. I decided to try it as an audiobook. I enjoyed the narrator. She was perfect for this story. I don't really know why Mary Catherine's story was put in. I found it to be a distraction (although the narrator was perfect with her accent). The main story was great watching the choices we make effect those around us. As always I enjoyed Francine Rivers writing.

Great voices
The fact there were two voices to differentiate between the main characters was very helpful. Great story. Great narration.

great ending.
There where times when wasn't sure if the dual timelines really worked together I this one. I loved both stories separately, sub sometimes inwished they where that, separate. But, the end changed my mind.
This aythora books always move me emotionally. Finding always gree with the full message but they always make me think and I am.so greatful for her gift in weaving stories together. Well worth the read. 👌 The historical time line was my favorit. And that is saying a lot. I don't read many historical fiction books.

Mixed bag
While the story kept me gripped to the end.. it was dripping with cheese. Perhaps as a Christian woman who is divorced it was difficult to hear. I just found it a little too easily wrapped up with a bow. Perhaps a bit too heavy on the perfect ending.

Surprising coming fo Jesus story
It was was a different type of story. I enjoyed the parallel story of the past running along with the main story. It was lovely that the 2 main women characters found God; but I found it a bit “hokey” and a bit too much and preachy at the end. It was a nice listen though.
