The Remastered Edition…Because There’s Always More to the Story

Dave Grohl’s The Storyteller created a sensation when it was initially published, becoming a global bestseller and thrilling fans and critics alike. Readers came to the book for Dave’s heartfelt voice, his love of family and music, and the energy that pours from every page.

Dave’s is an extraordinary life made of up ordinary moments, and he tells stories just like he writes songs—from his soul. Whether recounting his time as kid in Toughskins in the Virginia suburbs, as a skinny teenager drumming his heart out for punk band Scream, living through the explosion and implosion of Nirvana, or hustling all the way around the world to escort his daughters to the Father/Daughter dance (only to be ignored as soon as his girls found their friends) The Storyteller is just like its author, as real as it gets.

To show his appreciation for his fans, and to celebrate his love of writing, this edition offers a wide variety of extra content, including:

  • An essay on how Dave approaches creativity (Here’s a hint: you don’t have to think outside of the box. Just ignore it.)
  • A series of prompts to jump start your creativity
  • The story of when Dave first met Paul McCartney
  • A collection of Dave’s curated playlists, giving a glimpse into some of the music he loves

The Storyteller has challenged what a music memoir can be. With this edition, the legacy continues.

Incredible! I thought I couldn’t love him more. I was wrong.

I loved learned about the earlier details in his musical career. He says « later » at the end of the book. I’m hoping it means he may write another book. I know I will be listening to to this one again.

Has Heart

I loved the way Dave would bouce back and forth through time while telling his story. This made the experience seem more organic, like how it is with friends and family telling stories. Talking about one thing inspiring another thought. At the same time knowing that each story must have been carefully and thoughtfully chosen to be shared. I really enjoyed hearing how much he values family in particular being a father. The stories of his fame told from his perspective when I too have my own personal perspective to reflect on was simply wonderful. Hoping for a book 2 or more as time goes on. Thanks Dave.

Going down the Dave Grohl rabbit hole….

….and I absolutely loved it. So inspiring and heartfelt. I think I have a crush. ❤️ Honestly, I’ve never been a huge Foo fan but I’ve seen Dave Grohl in interviews and in various you tube clips and he just always seemed like a fun, genuine, talented guy that loved his family and performance. This autobiography solidified that for me.
His story is just about this normal kid from the suburbs who found a love of music and navigated his own path to self actualization amongst loss, grit and a passion for what he loved most. I love that he spoke about his youth, his fears, his love of being a father, the time in all his bands and the stories of all the legends he crossed paths with. There is so much heart in this book and I love that I listened to him tell the story.
I want to read a sequel for the next 10 years after he finished this. Best autobiography I’ve ever read.

Captivating

Dave is such a good story teller. His description of things and his raw honesty are unreal. Plus it’s pretty cool to listen to how he met some of the best musicians in the world and his description sounded like how I myself would probably think in that moment. Fucking awesome. 😏

A few good Chapters but the same story over and over again with different artists

I was very excited to hear the story of David Grohl. The foundation of his story about his life when he first started out was great. But as the book went along, it was repetitive and simply went on about how he met various artists and how nervous he was and how thankful he was and an impact they made on his life. The issue is it’s the same story over and over again.

I would not recommend this book to anyone unless you’re a big Foo Fighters fan or David Grohl fan.

He’s full of shit

Super disappointed! I don’t care how fucking well you think you can write, at least be honest. I feel ripped off.
