Publisher's Summary

Dave Smith is having a bad day, week, month, maybe even year. Freshly unemployed, facing eviction, and now he's been transported to a fantasy world. A wish come true for many a geek, if only he hadn't died less than a day after he arrived.

Now trapped in this fantasy realms version of purgatory, he faces the prospect of trying to navigate a new existence as a dungeon. That wouldn't be so bad, except ending dungeons seems to be the path out for many of the other denizens of these Proving Grounds.

To make matters worse, the deities of this place have taken a special interest in complicating his stay, for their own as yet unstated reasons.

On the upside, he has a new body.

Downside, most of the raiders in his region are bearded dudes or ugly and orc like. What's a guy whose life experiences include gaming and working a series of crummy customer service jobs to do. Answer. Work the system, be as obnoxiously obstinate as he can be, and bend every rule like it's made of rubber.

Oh, and whine, just a little bit; well, it is all very unfair.

Interesting idea for this genre

Overall this series has some potential, the writing quality is good for a new author or I assume Devan is fairly new to writing as he states at the end of this book. Anyways there is one thing that does bother me and its the MC’s first encounter with a dark elf female, its just happens without much reason and is quite out of place as there was absolutely no setup nor is the MC written in a way that suggests he is this type of person, if there was a bit more growth with the MC and more interaction with the dark elf then the part I am talking about would have been really good other than that his next encounter with a wood elf is quite good and very believable, Unfortunately based on the reviews from later books it seems like the author will have more encounters similar to the dark elf encounter which is a deal breaker, currently I am on the fence about getting the next book, on one hand it has potential and the other side is potentially more smut based Harem encounters. I'm gonna do some more digging before I continue on with this author or series.
