About this listen

One great series in a single offering!

Daxas has established his dungeon in the Proving Grounds and incorporated two more into his sphere of influence. But his expansion and rule-breaking doesn't end there.

His successes have been impressive, but thus far, he has been competing against the other minnows in the Proving Grounds. Other, grander forces, have taken notice and the interfering Divine Lords continue in their campaign to see Daxas destroyed.

Daxas will have to think bigger, fighter harder, and cheat in ever more inventive ways if he and his growing pool of desirable disciples are to emerge victorious.

not a bad story. really enjoyed it and kept me entertained for the most parts. would have liked drax to be somewhat more evil. but that is just my opinion.

Good value for a credit if you like assholes

LitRPG and harem isekai are both guilty pleasures for me - but I know they are also rarely good.

Case in point: the Wolf King's Lair series. It uses the 'reincarnated as a dungeon' premise, which I'd heard of but never read before. The first half of the book was like listening to someone play a strategy game - somewhat interesting, somewhat soothing, somewhat boring, but building up to get to the main plot. The second half was pure sex and combat. TOO much sex. The main character is an arrogant sex god who completely dominates his one disciple - a woman who has the choice between having her soul destroyed by Infernal Lords or serving him, and who accepts this choice with gratitude and enthusiasm. It feels hollow, though - the main character goes from normal to confident sex god in no time at all, and his disciple goes from crying in fear to telling her life story and having sex at every waking moment without a second's hesitation.

The clincher for me was the afterword of book one, where the author mentioned how he wanted to fill the niche of 'asshole main character'. That's fair, and I probably should have expected it from the novel's description, just not for me.
