About this listen
In the aftermath of a hurricane, a series of strange events plague the coastal waters off Florida. People go into the water and never return. Corpses of killer whales drift ashore, ravaged from enormous bite marks. A fishing trawler is found adrift, with a mysterious gash in its hull.
Transferred to the coastal town of Merit, police officer Leonard Riker uncovers the horrible reality of an enormous thresher shark lurking off the coast. Forty feet in length, it has taken a territorial claim to the waters near the town harbor. Armed with three-inch teeth, a scythe-like caudal fin, and unmatched aggression, the beast seeks to kill anything sharing the waters.

Better than 'Meg', Not As Good As 'Jaws'
This book is a fun take on a tried and true premise - a mindless monstrous shark killing wantonly and hunted down by the local landlubber cops. Michael Cole offers his take.. and it's pretty good. He isn't terribly imaginative - offering fairly predictable plot elements - but Cole's writing (vocabulary/prose) is serviceable and his description skills are commendable. it's an enjoyable version of the trope.
As to presentation: Reader Matt Godfrey occasionally sounds disinterested - clearly reading a text sitting open on his lap - but his timbre, cadence, diction, and pacing are genuinely praiseworthy. His voice-acting, furthermore, is legitimately outstanding. The narration is solidly above-average overall. If given the choice between a text (paper or eBook) copy of the book or this recorded iteration, pick this one.
Altogether, 'Thresher' rates 6 stars out of 10. It’s disappointingly unoriginal, but a fun listen over a couple of snowy afternoons if you can get it off of the 'Plus' menu. Save your Credit for something else if they ask for one, however.

Another great Micheal Cole book
I enjoy these books, he has written about crazy giant spiders, weird alien creatures, giant scorpions, and now a giant thresher shark. The book kept my interest all the way through. Looking forward to his next book.
