About this listen

Jacques McKeown is the most celebrated author of star-pilot fiction in the galaxy. He's rich, famous, and living in luxury, and his universe-wide fanbase eagerly awaits any news of his next book.

There's just one small hitch.

He's not Jacques McKeown.

He's Dashford Pierce, star pilot and con artist, and if only the impatient calls from his publisher were the worst of his problems. There's also the last vestige of the Henderson crime gang, trouble brewing in the retired star-pilot community, and a small matter of somebody trying to kill him.

As his web of lies falls apart and the crosshairs zero in, Pierce has no other option but to take one last adventure. An odyssey to the very edge of known space to finally answer the question that has twisted up his life for five years: Just who is Jacques McKeown?

Easily the funniest book he's written yet.

Yahtzee continues to impress with his signature brand of dry humor and sarcastic tone. This third installment in his extended canon puts a wonderful bow on the entire storyline, and even calls back to some of his earliest works. Truly my favorite book by Yahtzee Croshaw to date.

Called out of retirement one last time!

While the beginning definitely didn’t have the same draw to it that the original entries had. Like a ball rolling down a hill, the momentum it gains is like no other!

The twists and callbacks to all of Yahtzee’s works is amazing and well worth the ride. Interconnected in ways that are staring you in the face, but you won’t pick up on it till it’s already smashed you in the face with a brick!

This was one of my favourite sci-fi series, and while I’m sad to see it go I’m happy it was here. Can’t wait for the replay now that the trilogies completed and to see what comes next from Yahtzee

Entertaining series!

It's not complex hard science fiction, that's for sure, but it''s clever and lots of fun!

Chekhov's Gun Is Locked And Loaded

Yahtzee is a master of literary devices and twists. And this 3rd entry in the series is no exception. To avoid spoilers I wont say much, but the use of big reveals from little things is incredible as always.

Now I am sad

A good story probably needs an end, but it is still hard to part with Jacques McKeown and those characters that contributed to his life.

A satisfying is somewhat meta conclusion to the Trilogy

This book was a satisfying is somewhat meta conclusion to the Trilogy.

It's full of Yahtzees trademark humor, and goes in some strange but engaging directions.
While Im not onboard with some of the things the author did with this book, he does provide a satisfying conclusion to the main characters story over these 3 books.

Cheeky Callback to a previous series?

Love the performance and story! Also, feels like a character is a direct callback to a different series by Yahtzee. Mogworld for the win!

Good, just not as good as the other 2.

Yahtzee mentioned that WSTG4F was supposed to be a one-off and it really shows in this one.
The gang is back and Dashford-Not-Mckeown-Peirce is agan dragged along a wild space adventure he'd rather have no part of. Hijinks ensue. There's some good scenes and Yahtzee's comedic style still holds true, but there's areas that feel underdeveloped or just plain forced. The Mckeown reveal felt more like an afterthought as opposed to a long planned arc.
You can almost hear him say: "hmm can't go with anything close to the fan theories...what's trending on the news today".
