About this listen
Watch Silo, the new Apple TV+ sci-fi series starring Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Robbins, starting May 5th, 2023!
The first book in the acclaimed, New York Times bestselling trilogy, Wool is the story of mankind clawing for survival.
The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: they are allowed to go outside.
After the previous sheriff leaves the silo in a terrifying ritual, Juliette, a mechanic from the down deep, is suddenly and inexplicably promoted to the head of law enforcement. With newfound power and with little regard for the customs she is supposed to abide, Juliette uncovers hints of a sinister conspiracy. Tugging this thread may uncover the truth—or it could kill every last human alive.

Story
The old world is buried. A new one has been forged atop the shifting dunes. Here in this land of howling wind and infernal sand, four siblings find themselves scattered and lost. Story

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

This was excellent. I was sad when it was finished! I love End of the World survival type stories, but they all feel exactly the same after a while. This one was a different premise which made it feel fresh. Highly recommend!

Not the best narrator but the story makes up for it
The story is AMAZING! I did not hear about this story until Apple made it a series on AppleTV (they stop early on in the book. And I loved the series so much, I just needed to know what happens after the series ends (pretty sure they’ll have a season 2 to continue book 1, and because there are 2 more books). Anyway, the story is a page turner for sure. In this case, a “one more chapter” lol! I usually listen to audiobooks before going to bed, and this one made me delay my bedtime quite often because I wanted to know what happened next.
I was not crazy about the narrator. The way he stopped mid-sentence for weird pauses like every time it said “she said” or something like that. It kind of got on my nerves. And it was a bit hard to distinguish his character by the “acting” he did for the different characters.
But overall, the narrator was not enough to make me hate this audiobook. And even if he still narrates book 2 and 3, I’ll probably still buy them.
