    Dr. Judith Joseph brings an unparalleled wealth of expertise, with a distinguished educational background that includes a Bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry, Cum laude from Duke University. She earned her Medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and holds a Business degree from Columbia Business School. Dr. Judith completed her Adult psychiatry residency at Columbia University, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. Furthermore, she pursued a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the Child Study Center at NYU Langone Medical Hospital and Bellevue Hospital.


    As the Chairwoman of the Women in Medicine Board at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and a Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU Langone Medical Center Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Judith remains committed to advancing mental health treatments that are inclusive of diverse backgrounds and beliefs.


    With a thriving social media community and numerous appearances on esteemed platforms, including panels with Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Judith Joseph is dedicated to making mental health accessible to all. Recently, she received a prestigious Proclamation award from the US Congress in recognition of her outstanding contributions to mental health work.

    Dr. Christine Crawford is a Harvard trained adult, child, and adolescent psychiatrist who currently serves as the Associate Medical Director for the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI). She is an Assistant Professor and Vice Chair of Education at Boston University School of Medicine within the Department of Psychiatry. She treats patients in the Boston Medical Center Child and Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic in the Wellness and Recovery After Psychosis (WRAP) Program where she provides psychiatric care to adolescents experiencing symptoms of psychosis. In addition to her clinical work and teaching medical students, she has expertise in areas such as racial disparities within the mental health care system and discussing the impact of racism on the mental health of people of color.

    She is also the author of NAMI’s latest book “You Are Not Alone for Parents and Caregivers: The NAMI Guide to Navigating Your Child’s Mental Health”. She joins us on The Vault to provide parents and caregivers with practical tools on how to support their child’s mental health. In a world where there is so much information online, it can feel overwhelming for parents to know where they can turn for trusted answers for their child’s mental health needs.   • Dr. Tia Dole : How To Prevent Youth Suicide. How to Talk To Your Children About Mental Health

    September is Suicide Prevention Month and 988 Day is a national initiative dedicated to raising awareness about 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and emphasizing the importance of mental health and suicide prevention. On September 8, 2024 we share the theme “No Judgement. Just Help.”

    During this episode of The Vault, Dr. Tia Dole discusses what every parent should know about raising boys, girls, and youth in order to decrease the risk of suicide and how to identify the warning signs Tia Dole, Ph.D., is the Chief 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline Officer at Vibrant Emotional Health. Dr.Dole is a licensed clinical psychologist and a long-time advocate for the rights of those with intersectional identity. Prior to stepping into the role of Chief 988 Officer, Dr. Dole was the Executive Director of The Steve Fund, the nation’s only organization focused on the mental health and emotional well-being for young people of color. Additionally, Dr. Dole was the Chief Clinical Operations Officer at The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ youth. Dr. Dole oversaw all of The Trevor Project’s crisis services programs as well as their volunteer community and increased their impact by a factor of four.

    After completing her bachelor’s degree at Carleton College, Dr. Dole received her Master’s degree in Developmental Psychopathology from Columbia University (Teacher’s College), and she received a Fulbright Fellowship to study Forensic Psychology in Switzerland. She then completed her doctorate
    in clinical psychology at Fordham University. Dr. Dole is a published author and sits on several committees. One of her passions is normalizing mental health conditions within communities of color, LGBTQ communities, and helping people get access to services. She is based in New York/New Jersey.

  • Black Business Month : Supporting Black Women Entrepreneurs with Dr. Catrise Austin and Teri Johnson

    August is Black Business Month and we are highlighting black women entrepreneurs because they are one of the fastest growing groups of entrepreneurs. Dr. Catrise Austin is an award winning cosmetic dentist to the stars and Hip Hop Recording Artist, Cardi B., Famously rapped about her in her music. Dr. Catrise understands the connection between dental health and mental health and we discussed the importance of having a culturally competent dentist that you can trust to open up to and talk about anxiety and low self-esteem with regards to dental health.

    Teri Johnson is an award-winning entrepreneur and owner of Harlem Candle Company and Harlem Perfume Company and she uses African American History to illuminatemhomes across the world with her elegant candles, fragrances and designs that are inspired by the Harlem renaissance. She talked about how success as a black woman entrepreneur comes with highs and lows.

    On this episode we discuss how Black Women should support each other and uplift each other because they often have to work twice as hard for their businesses to survive and they don’t get the same level of financial funding as other business owners. Many of black women owned businesses are self-funded and were severely impacted by 202. As a black woman entrepreneur and doctor, Dr. Judith personally understands the importance of supporting black women owned businesses because entrepreneurs deal with a whole host of mental health issues because they tend to take care of everyone else but themselves. This puts them at risk for High functioning depression because they worry about the needs of their clients, employees and their families and they feel like they cannot slow down because they are needed by so many.
