THE CHAIR (S1/Ep41) — A Kit to be a Young Black Man

I had the pleasure of meeting Lorenzo in Atlanta for a 45 minute meeting that turned into a 2 hour dinner. I continue to learn from Lorenzo to this day. Shout out to Cheryl Kiser (S1/Ep 11 & 12) for connecting us.

    His Bio:

Turn your pain into purpose. It’s a philosophy that speaker and social entrepreneur Lorenzo Lewis lives by. With a decade of professional experience in behavioral health and founder of The Confess Project—an initiative that trains barbers, beauticians, and frontline workers to become mental health advocates in underserved communities—Lorenzo helps you confess to your issues to begin to build a better process of living.

Lorenzo is a 2024 Clinton Global Initiative Fellow, 2022 Ashoka Fellow, 2020 Roddenberry Foundation Fellow, and 2020 Echoing Green Fellow. He has had the honor of sharing a stage with President Clinton and speaking after His Holiness Pope Francis at the invite-only 2023 Clinton Global Initiative Meeting.

This year, Lorenzo was named one of Very Well Mind’s ‘Mental Health 25 Champions’ alongside luminaries Taraji P. Henson and Serena Williams. His work has also been featured in countless other media outlets including Oprah Magazine, BET, CNN’s Great Big Story, Revolt on PBS, Black Enterprise, and Huffington Post as well as brands such as Kenneth Cole and the Minnesota Vikings. THE CHAIR (S1/Ep39) — Autism is their Superpower

    Hello Beautiful People,

    I’m Your Host Dreme.

I’m a Black woman, an educator turned tech entrepreneur but still an educator. Building a platform called THE CHAIR is a Black and Brown centered tech platform dedicated to supporting people on their hair journey. You can design hairboards, connect to hair stylists, and share hair care tips all in one space for a more joyous and streamlined experience. I built THE CHAIR Podcast to highlight hair journeys. A reminder to keep creating magic. As people sit in THE CHAIR you will get more than just hair stories. You will be immersed into experiences surrounding education, entrepreneurship, and identity. I hope you enjoy listening to my stories and the stories of my guests as we sit in THE CHAIR.

THE CHAIR (S1/Ep39) — Autism is their Superpower

Alexis and I met many years ago at overnight camp. Camp is one of those places where relationships are born and core memories are created in such a short amount of time. Many of my values I began to understand was on the hills and in the lakes at camp. Alexis would say the same. It was a pleasure to talk about the importance of camp during our formative years and entering into her world as a mom of children with autism and learning about her hair journey and how it intertwines with her children hair journeys. Come sit and listen to Alexis as she shares her stories in THE CHAIR.

    Her Bio:

Lexii, a 31-year-old graphic designer from Jersey City, is a creative powerhouse and devoted mother of two autistic children. Born on December 13, 1993, she channels her passion for Black excellence into everything she does, using her artistry to uplift and inspire. Beyond her work, Alexis is a fierce advocate for change, striving to make the world a better place for her children and her community. Known for her warmth and compassion, she naturally becomes a safe space for her friends—and even strangers—offering support, understanding, and a listening ear. Her journey is one of resilience, purpose, and unwavering love.
