THE CHAIR (S1/Ep42) — She Ain't Going to the Navy

    I’m Your Host Dreme.

I’m a Black woman, an educator turned tech entrepreneur but still an educator. Building a platform called THE CHAIR is a Black and Brown centered tech platform dedicated to supporting people on their hair journey. You can design hairboards, connect to hair stylists, and share hair care tips all in one space for a more joyous and streamlined experience. I built THE CHAIR Podcast to highlight hair journeys. A reminder to keep creating magic. As people sit in THE CHAIR you will get more than just hair stories. You will be immersed into experiences surrounding education, entrepreneurship, and identity. I hope you enjoy listening to my stories and the stories of my guests as we sit in THE CHAIR.

I was the youngest at the retreat by more than 20 years. I happened to sit next to Michelle during many of our full group circle workshops and a connection began to form. I am excited to have her on THE CHAIR.

THE CHAIR (S1/Ep39) — Autism is their Superpower

Alexis and I met many years ago at overnight camp. Camp is one of those places where relationships are born and core memories are created in such a short amount of time. Many of my values I began to understand was on the hills and in the lakes at camp. Alexis would say the same. It was a pleasure to talk about the importance of camp during our formative years and entering into her world as a mom of children with autism and learning about her hair journey and how it intertwines with her children hair journeys. Come sit and listen to Alexis as she shares her stories in THE CHAIR.

    Her Bio:

Lexii, a 31-year-old graphic designer from Jersey City, is a creative powerhouse and devoted mother of two autistic children. Born on December 13, 1993, she channels her passion for Black excellence into everything she does, using her artistry to uplift and inspire. Beyond her work, Alexis is a fierce advocate for change, striving to make the world a better place for her children and her community. Known for her warmth and compassion, she naturally becomes a safe space for her friends—and even strangers—offering support, understanding, and a listening ear. Her journey is one of resilience, purpose, and unwavering love.

Alia and I met many years ago at an overnight camp where we shared dreams and laughter. Alia has let me into her world and is gracious enough to continue teaching me as I learn about the world of social work through her eyes. It was a pleasure to have her on the podcast to not only share words of wisdom but also diving into the phases of hair. Come listen to Alia's stories in THE CHAIR.

    Her Bio:

Alia is a 28-year-old mother, daughter, student, and professional. Originally from Philadelphia, she relocated to Massachusetts, where she works to support individuals transitioning back into the community after incarceration. Currently pursuing her MSW at Bridgewater State University, Alia is dedicated to becoming a social worker.
