For only the fourth time in American history, the House of Representatives has conducted an impeachment inquiry into a sitting United States president. This landmark document details the findings of the House Intelligence Committee’s historic investigation of whether President Donald J. Trump committed impeachable offenses when he sought to have Ukraine announce investigations of former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter. The Impeachment Report is necessary listening for every American concerned about the fate of our democracy.

In my humble opinion, I find it difficult to understand how detractors of the investigation or any fair-minded person for that matter could say this investigation was not warranted, or even that it was a total waste of time. Unfortunately, partisan politics entered the picture. The Obama administration was facing re-election, and the Democratic Party wanted to prevent any bad news from hampering their chances to gain power in the House and Senate.

In 1975, The US Senate's "Church Committee", officially known as The United States Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities, launched a series of investigations into the abuses by US government agencies such as the FBI, CIA, NSA, IRS and others. Part of the committee's investigation examined the Federal Bureau of Investigation's "war" against Civil Rights Leader Martin Luther King, Jr.
