Life is a journey and physical birth and death are its points of transition. Many people across multiple cultures and faith systems believe that the spirit lives on—and have experienced contact with the spirits of loved ones who have passed to the higher side. This contact is joyous, comforting, and healing—but you wonder if it's real and whether you can share in it, too.

It's September—National Honey Month—in Moraine, Wisconsin. After her mentor in the honey business is found dead in his apiary, beekeeper Story Fischer must sort through a swarm of suspects, including her ex-husband. With a little help (and sometimes hindrance) from family and friends, Story must find her way out of a very sticky situation.

When her neighbor is shot and killed in his hunting blind, 66-year-old widow Gertie Johnson seizes the opportunity to move on with her life by investigating his death. Gertie is abetted (and hindered) by her grandson Little Donny, man-hungry best friend Cora Mae, and word-of-the-day challenger, Kitty. It doesn't help that Chester's death has been ruled an accident by the sheriff of this backwoods community in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Or that Sheriff Blaze Johnson happens to be Gertie's son.
