Det er ikke med vilje, at Dina er havnet i Dunarks Dragegård. Hun har ikke spor lyst til at spille helt. Faktisk er det hendes højeste ønske at være en ganske almindelig pige og måske få nogle ganske almindelige venner. Men det går ikke, når man er Skammerens datter og har øjne, ingen almindelige mennesker tør se ind i.

Skammerkrigen er den spændende afslutning på historien om Dina, Skammerens datter. Nico havde kaldt Carmian stærk, men jeg troede bare hun var kold. Kold, hårdhjertet og falsk. Og hende havde Nico valgt at stole på? Jeg har lagt mit liv i dine hænder, havde han sagt. Men hvis han absolut skulle lægge sit liv i nogens hænder, hvorfor kunne det så ikke være mine?
