Captain Lionel Wafer and his fellow-pirates - Toad, Brace-and-Bit and Winkle, are no ordinary ruffians. Margaret Mahy is one of the very best childrens writers. Her inventive stories and humour are both incredible and delightful. In 'Elephant Milk Hippopotamus Cheese' a giant helps Weedy finally grow into her enormous feet. Absolute joy.
