Story
And there you have it, sports fans. The game plan in a nutshell. Get The Mark, the very rich Shelby Coleman, to a poker game where, over time, they can take all his money. Get Shelby to the point where he begs them for credit to get even. And let him play a little longer, so he can wipe the smiles off the faces of those he thinks have milked him dry. And each time he begs them for more credit, he’ll be getting in deeper with them. And deeper still. That’s the plan. That’s what they’re getting so very close to pulling off.

A jogger out for an early morning run discovers Nigel Butler, a hairdresser, dead, with a comb and scissors stuck up his ass, upside down in a trashcan in front of the Columbia Library. Story
Alice Green's lost and recently found eyewitness accounts of her childhood, her own war, the Golden Years of Radio, and the postwar housing shortage, are told from the light-hearted viewpoint of the shy, youngest child, who learns she can make even the stormy and outrageous characters in her own family laugh. With a little help from her son, who (just barely) lived to finish it, her story stands for unsung American women in war and survives as Alice's triumph.
