Miles Fenby is a clever five-year-old boy whose life is in turmoil (for a five-year-old). His family has just relocated for his dad's work, and his mom is pregnant with a second child. When Miles and his dad assemble his brand-new bunk bed (approved by Inspector 9, according to the packing slip), there's an extra piece whose purpose they can't quite figure out.
