Forfeit is a collection of eight original short stories from author Rustin Petrae (Histories of Purga novels and the Bane Pack novels). The theme of this collection is the word forfeit. In each story, a character has to forfeit something important to them. Their minds. Their ideals. Their innocence. Their lives. Sometimes, they are forced to give up them up. Sometimes, they do so willingly.

Rooks have embraced science and technology, inventing microscopic robots called nanos to create any machine they need. The Terraquois are their opposite. They embraced the spiritual and developed a deep bond with nature. This bond allows them to shift into the animal that resembles their true inner selves.
