The poem was written in 1995. In 1996, it was awarded the National Author's Registry: Honorable Mention; followed by the National Author's Registry: President's Award in 1997. Since then, "Two Men Kissing" has been published numerous times in international literary journals, both general and LGBT, and continues to be discussed in high schools and colleges in America.
