After being attacked, chased and poisoned, 16-year-old Terren is left for dead lying at the bottom of a steep cliff. As he lies on the brink of death, staring up at a blue and peaceful sky, something strange begins to happen to him...somehow he has completed the forbidden Ritual which affords him access to magic that has been lost for hundreds of years.

When I drove up on the scene, I noticed two unmarked vehicles at the intersection, with tinted windows and a few assault rifles lying in front of the driveway. As I got closer l turned off my car engine and laid low for a few minutes. Then I hopped out and took cover behind my vehicle. I then grabbed my binoculars and began looking around to make sure the coast was clear. I noticed one of the unmarked vehicles had two assault rifles sticking out of the back window, so I identified myself. I said, "My name is Detective Yates from the 14th precinct. Lay your weapons on the ground."
