Ilyse Kennedy, LPC, LMFT, PMH-C, is a trauma therapist who owns Moving Parts Psychotherapy, a group practice in Austin, TX. Like many practitioners, she entered this field after many years on the couch and plenty of time healing from her own trauma. As a therapist, she works with clients of all ages, most of whom are recovering from complex trauma. After recognizing the need for wider education and support regarding trauma, she began advocacy work on Instagram to offer further information around trauma and its impact, with the goal of normalizing the experience for trauma survivors and creating more understanding among the general public. She has also shared her work at various conferences and organizations, and she hosts a monthly consultation and education group with clinicians around the world. Having considered herself a writer since she could first craft stories, Kennedy looks forward to expanding her advocacy work into book form as well. While she is proud of her accolades in the mental health field, she is proudest of her children, who show the benefits of presence and playfulness each and every day.
