Jacky Bowring PhD is Professor of Landscape Architecture at Lincoln University, New Zealand. Jacky is the author of A Field Guide to Melancholy (2008), Melancholy and the Landscape: Locating Sadness, Memory and Reflection in the Landscape (2016), and Landscape Architecture Criticism (2020). She is a registered landscape architect, exploring the landscape through design, criticism, and scholarly research. Jacky has contributed chapters to a range of books, including The Routledge Companion to Landscape Studies (Peter Howard, Ian Thompson, Emma Waterton, Mick Atha, 2018); Care and Design: Bodies, Buildings, Cities (Charlotte Bates, Rob Imrie, Kim Kullman, 2016); Edgelands: A collection of monstrous geographies (2016); Beyond the Scene: Landscape and Identity in Aotearoa New Zealand (2010); Contemporary Garden Aesthetics, Creations and Interpretations (2007).
