Mark McClish was in federal law enforcement for 26 years. He started his law enforcement career in 1983 with the U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division where he was assigned to the White House. In 1985, he was hired by the U.S. Marshals Service and served as a Deputy U.S. Marshal in Springfield, Illinois. In 1990, Mr. McClish was promoted to an instructor position at the U.S. Marshals Service Training Academy located at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia. In 1999, he left the Training Academy for an assignment in Greenville, North Carolina where he served for almost ten years as a Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal. In September 2009, he retired from the U.S. Marshals Service. While assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service Training Academy, Mr. McClish was the lead instructor on interviewing techniques. During this time he researched how people respond to certain questions. He developed a system called Statement Analysis® which allows a person to detect deception in a verbal and written statement. He currently gives presentations on Statement Analysis throughout the U.S. He has spoken at numerous law enforcement conferences and has trained a variety of law enforcement agencies and military organizations. He is the author of the book "I Know You Are Lying" the developer of the "Statement Analyzer" which is software that will analyze a statement for deception. In addition to teaching interviewing techniques, Mr. McClish was also the lead defensive tactics instructor at the U.S. Marshals Service Training Academy. During this time he introduced to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center techniques to help a police officer survive a fight that ends up on the ground. In 2000, he made the DVD "Ground Fighting Techniques for Law Enforcement Officers" which teaches anyone how to win an altercation on the ground.
