À propos de cet audio
Do you automatically assume the worst-case-scenario when faced with difficulty? Do you stress about situations that haven't happened yet, or find yourself anticipating disaster around every corner? Does the prospect of making a decision leave you feeling overwhelmed and paralyzed? From subtle avoidance behaviors to the most nightmarish terrors, anticipatory anxiety is the engine that drives it all. Understanding how this hidden enemy tricks you, and, most importantly, how to overcome it, will liberate you to live a more flexible and joyful life.
In Overcoming Anticipatory Anxiety, two anxiety experts team up to teach you how to manage your overactive imagination, limit future-based thinking, face your fears, make decisions, and live with more freedom and joy. This must-have guide is grounded in the authors' innovative and easy-to-remember DANCE model: Discern your anticipatory anxiety; Accept doubts and discomfort; No struggling or avoiding; Commit to proceed; and Embrace the present as it is, so you can get on with your life.
It's time to stop worrying about what might happen, start facing your fears, rein in your self-defeating imagination, and live fully in the moment. Get this book and discover the motivation and skills needed to take charge of your anticipatory anxiety.

Good background information on the cause of anxiety
I listened to DARE prior to coming to this book (which I also recommend). I found this book gave good background insight into the causes of anxiety and how it moves into your thoughts and life. I am not an overly anxious person but while getting ready for a trip I noticed my brain went into overdrive of worrying and anxiety. I started to make plans for how I may get out of going on the trip if I kept feeling this way. This was not my first time experiencing this but it felt more intense this time. I decided to try and learn why my brain was working this way. After listening to the book I started to realize that there were signs of my anxiety going back to my university days.
The approach provided in the book worked well for me because I felt like I still had my anxiety “under control” and could learn to deal with it differently. I appreciate that if you are struggling to leave the house to go shopping because of anxiety this book may help or lay the groundwork for addressing your issue it maybe to simplified, and provide an almost trivial approach. If you are truly afraid to leave the house because of “x” you will need someone to coach you through what is being described in the book as simply “turning off your anxious brain” maybe a difficult task.
All that said if you are dealing with any level of anxiety this book provides calm audio and good narration. I found listen to the book informative as well as soothing. If nothing else you will quickly learn that you are not broken, and are dealing with the same thing as millions of people around the world.
