À propos de cet audio
This classic Western story takes place on a cattle ranch. When a mysterious stranger comes walking into town seeking employment at the Cross-Triangle Ranch, life changes for these simple country folk. The stranger goes by the name Honorable Patches, and throughout the book his tumultuous past and his intentions for coming out West are revealed. Patches is put to the test many times by the other employees, including the caretaker, Phil Acton, and the owner, Dean Baldwin. As Patches continues to prove his worth, the ranch employees learn the importance of a natural life and its role in what it means to be a man.
Harold Bell Wright (1872-1944) was a Disciples of Christ minister. He traveled extensively and wrote about the goodness of mankind. After authoring That Printer of Udell's - a book that inspired Ronald Reagan - he wrote The Shepherd of the Hills, which has sold more than one million copies. Wright's ongoing battle with tuberculosis led him to settle in Imperial Valley, California, where he wrote The Winning of Barbara Worth. The following books are published by Pelican as a set: A Harold Bell Wright Trilogy: The Shepherd of the Hills, The Calling of Dan Matthews, and God and the Grocery Man.

As a boy, Dick Falkner ran away from abject poverty and an abusive alcoholic father. Sixteen years later, he finds himself hungry of body and empty of spirit in a Midwestern town. Although he finds no help in this so-called Christian town, he is eventually taken in by George Udell, a local publisher and kindhearted man. Through hard work and Christian morals, this man, who becomes known as "that printer of Udell’s", rises above his past to a new, inspiring life with God.

You don't have to be a hunter or camper to enjoy this collection of hilarious stories by a writer who is often compared to Mark Twain and Garrison Keillor. In fact, the charm of Patrick F. McManus' work is that it provides plenty of reasons for staying indoors, surrounded by friendly appliances. You'll laugh aloud as McManus and his friends, including Rancid and Crazy Eddie, venture into the great outdoors to face formidable foes.

To complete your arsenal, McManus also includes "The Hunter's Workout Guide" and a special "Family Camper's Dictionary". Exercises like the hindquarter shuffle will make you move like a hunter. And phrases like "Yip-yip-yip-Owoooooo!" will help you sound like one, too.

Prior to the Civil War, the fastest mail between the West Coast and the East took almost thirty days by stagecoach along a southern route through Texas. Some Californians feared their state would not remain in the Union, separated so far from the free states. Then businessman William Russell invested in a way to deliver mail between San Francisco and the farthest western railroad, in Saint Joseph, Missouri - across two thousand miles of mountains, deserts, and plains - guaranteed in ten days or less.

It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.
