• are we... mismanaging our time?
    Feb 28 2025

Today Maddy and Jen are diving into time management—why we struggle with it, and how we can reclaim control of our schedules (and more importantly - our lives). From learning to say no without guilt to navigating the pressures of always being “busy,” the gals explore the tricky, tricky balance between productivity and rest.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Saying No is a Skill – It's okay to decline plans without over-explaining. A simple “I’m not available” is enough.
    • Prioritize Quality Over Quantity – Rather than stretching yourself thin trying to see everyone, focus on intentional, meaningful connections.
    • Timers Are Your Best Friend – Setting a timer for a dreaded task (even just 10 minutes) can help build momentum.
    • Reframe “Wasting Time” – Instead of judging yourself for scrolling TikTok, ask: Is this serving me? Brain breaks are valuable, too.
    • Over-Scheduling as Avoidance – If you constantly fill your calendar to avoid downtime, ask yourself why. Learning to sit with your thoughts is an important skill.

This week Maddy and Jen take a break from deep dives and just… catch up. And the big news? Jen set Maddy up on a date! They break down how the setup happened and why good old-fashioned matchmaking might be the best way to meet someone these days.

A note from Producer Hailey: Oops! If you noticed the first upload of this episode was a little too unfiltered, that's because the wrong version was uploaded—the uncut version. Sorry about that! Won’t happen again. But hey, a perfect moment to use one of our fave DBT skills - radical acceptance <3

    2. Plan it out. When, where, and how matters.

    3. As Lisa Rinna says OWN IT, BABY.

    4. Prepare for their reaction. Expect emotions and allow space for processing.

  • are we... getting fired?
    Feb 7 2025

Did ya miss us? We're back!

This week, Maddy and Jen tackle the dreaded “F” word—fired—and break down everything you need to know if you find yourself in this situation. Whether you’ve been let go, fear losing your job, or just want to be prepared, this episode is your survival guide.

5 Steps to Survive Getting Fired or Laid Off

Step 1: Give yourself time to process.

    • Getting fired or laid off can be shocking and emotional. Resist the urge to immediately problem-solve or react impulsively.
    • Take a day to sit with your emotions—whether that means venting to a friend, journaling, or practicing mindfulness.

Step 2: STEP AWAY FROM THE PHONE!

    • Do not post about your firing on social media or badmouth your former employer.
    • If you need to vent, do it in therapy, with trusted friends, or privately - writing and ripping.

Step 3: Get Closure & Reflect

    • What can you learn from this?
    • This is a time for problem-solving, not shame—figure out how to move forward with a positive mindset (or the best you can to be positive).

    Step 4: Who are you?

    • Many people tie their identity to their job. Take time to recognize that you are more than your career.
    • Practice describing yourself by your values and interests, not just your profession.

Step 5: You got this! Get back out there!

    • Set a realistic plan for job searching—don’t just scroll LinkedIn all day, everyday.
    • Network! Reconnect with people in your industry, schedule coffee chats, and explore different paths.
    • Give yourself permission to take a break—rest is part of the process.

And remember, losing a job sucks, but it’s not the end—it’s a redirection. Handle it with grace, take care of yourself, and trust that you will move forward.

  • are we... expecting too much from our in-laws?
    Jan 10 2025

Coming off the holidays, you might find yourself reflecting on those tricky in-law dynamics—whether it’s navigating family gatherings, balancing expectations, or handling unsolicited advice. In this episode, Maddy and Jen dive headfirst into the complexities of in-law relationships. Join us!

    Key Takeaways:

    • Assume Good Intentions: During and after the holidays, it’s helpful to approach in-law relationships with the belief that everyone is doing their best. This shift in mindset can create space for understanding and reduce tension.
    • Communicate Effectively: Venting about your in-laws to your partner can create unnecessary friction. Instead, focus on constructive conversations that strengthen your teamwork as a couple.
    • Set Realistic Expectations: Your in-laws aren’t your parents, and they don’t need to be. Different doesn’t mean bad—embrace the uniqueness of the relationship.
    • Prepare for Family Time: Anticipate patterns of behavior that might create challenges during gatherings. Use radical acceptance to meet people where they are and set boundaries where needed.

  • are we... overthinking resolutions?
    Jan 3 2025

Happy New Year! this week Maddy and Jen dive into the ever-elusive world of New Year’s resolutions. From societal pressures to personal accountability, they share practical insights and tangible tips on how to make meaningful changes that actually stick—without falling into guilt, shame, or perfectionism traps.

Your roadmap to creating meaningful change in the new year:

    • Ditch the "New Year, New Me" Mindset: Instead, focus on being the same you, but better. Small, consistent improvements trump grand overhauls every time.
    • Focus on Gentle Measurements: Replace rigid "every day" goals with achievable ones, like "more times than not." Progress over perfection.
    • Plan for Obstacles: Life happens. Instead of aiming for flawless execution, anticipate challenges and have a backup plan.
    • Celebrate the Golden Nuggets: Small wins deserve recognition. Each success, no matter how minor, is a step towards sustainable change.
    • Accountability Isn’t Tyranny: Share your goals with people who’ll support, not criticize. Accountability is about connection, not shame.

  • are we... getting you get a BF in one year or less?
    Dec 20 2024

Today Maddy and Jennifer lay out the ultimate roadmap for finding a partner in one year or less. With a mix of LOLs and practical advise they break down everything you need to know to make it happen—without losing sight of who you are.

    The Roadmap:

    • Define Your Needs: Create an exhaustive list of "non-negotiables" and "nice-to-haves" to clarify what you're looking for in a partner.
    • Work on Yourself: Reflect on patterns from previous relationships, take responsibility for your role, and clean up your “side of the street.”
    • Put Yourself Out There: Commit to being uncomfortable at least once a week, whether that’s going on a date, joining a new activity, or meeting new people.
    • Optimize Your Dating Profile: Your profile should reflect who you are and invite connection.
    • Move Quickly to IRL Dates: Limit prolonged texting to avoid false intimacy. Use simple, direct language to transition to in-person meetings and assess real-life chemistry.
    • Adopt a Yes-And Attitude: During dates, stay curious and open.
    • Own Your Solo Time: Learn to enjoy and prioritize your own company.
