  • Breaking Free: A Prayer for Strength, Peace, and Rest
    Feb 20 2025

Today’s episode is a little different. I wasn’t feeling my best, and my voice is a bit iffy, but I didn’t want that to stop me from showing up for you. So, instead of our usual chat, I’m sharing a powerful prayer that I’ve been praying over myself for the last few weeks. My hope is that these words bring you the same comfort, strength, and peace they’ve been bringing me.

    Father God,

I come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, declaring that I am who You say I am, not who these strongholds try to make me believe I am. Today, I renounce and reject every lie that anger, resentment, worry, frustration, and busyness have spoken over me. These strongholds no longer have a place in my mind, my heart, or my life, because I am set free in Christ!

I declare that I am patient and kind, not ruled by anger or resentment. Your Word says in Colossians 3:12 that I am chosen, holy, and dearly loved, so I clothe myself in compassion, humility, and gentleness. I refuse to let anger control me, and I will not hold onto resentment, because You have forgiven me, and I choose to forgive others.

I declare that I am at peace, not overcome by worry. Your Word in Philippians 4:6-7 tells me that I don’t have to be anxious about anything, but instead, I will bring everything to You in prayer. Right now, I surrender every fear, every uncertainty, and every burden to You. I receive Your perfect peace that guards my heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

I declare that I am strong and equipped, not overwhelmed by frustration. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says that Your grace is sufficient for me, and Your power is made perfect in my weakness. So, I let go of frustration and embrace Your strength. Even when things don’t go my way, I will not be shaken, because You are in control, and Your plans for me are good.

I declare that I am rested and free, not consumed by busyness. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus, You invite me to come to You and find rest. So, I reject the lie that my worth is based on how much I do. I choose to walk in Your easy yoke and light burden, making space for what truly matters—time with You, time with my family, and time to be present in the life You have given me.

Father, I ask that you would break every chain that has held me back. I cancel every assignment of the enemy over my mind, my emotions, and my spirit. I am not bound by these strongholds any longer! By the authority of Jesus Christ, I walk in complete freedom, peace, strength, and rest. I declare that from this moment forward, I am renewed, transformed, and victorious in You.

    In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!

If this prayer blessed you, I’d love to hear from you! Come find me over on Instagram at Keeping It Together-Ish and let me know how God is moving in your life today. Until next time, remember: you are not alone, you are deeply loved, and you were made to thrive—even in the messiness of life.

  • The Growth You’re Craving Starts Where Comfort Ends
    Jan 29 2025

Today we’re exploring a powerful shift in perspective: what if the discomfort you’ve been avoiding is actually the doorway to the growth you’ve been seeking? Whether it’s in health, relationships, or personal goals, true transformation begins when we stop running from the hard stuff and start seeing it as the path forward.

We explore the difference between convenience and effectiveness, the power of decisions that align with your values, and the liberating truth that you’re not “good” or “bad” based on your choices—you’re human. Plus, we’ll tackle how every journey starts with a “Day One” and how to keep going when that first step feels impossibly hard.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode:

    1. Getting Comfortable Being Uncomfortable:
      • How embracing discomfort can help us grow stronger—mentally, emotionally, and physically.
      • Insights from thought leaders like Gary Brecka (“Aging is the aggressive pursuit of comfort”) and Dan Buettner (“The only way to get through life is to get comfortable with the notion that you’re not going to be comfortable”).
      • Why modern life’s obsession with convenience may be holding you back from reaching your full potential.
    2. Convenience vs. Effectiveness:
      • The difference between cutting corners for short-term ease and finding smarter ways to achieve your goals.
      • Practical examples of choosing effectiveness over convenience, like batch cooking, quick workouts, and simplifying effort instead of avoiding it altogether.
    3. Decisions Are Not Moral Judgments:
      • Why making a choice that doesn’t align with your goals doesn’t make you “bad.”
      • How reframing decisions as “aligned” or “misaligned” removes guilt and keeps you moving forward.
      • The importance of approaching decisions rationally rather than emotionally.
    4. Everyone Has a Day One:
      • A reminder that every journey—no matter how successful—starts with a challenging first step.
      • How to draw strength from others who have been through the same struggles.
      • Tips for building momentum and overcoming the discouragement that often comes with starting something new.

    Notable Quotes from This Episode:

    • “Aging is the aggressive pursuit of comfort.” – Gary Brecka
    • “The only way to get through life is to get comfortable with the notion that you’re not going to be comfortable.” – Dan Buettner
    • “You’re not ‘good’ or ‘bad.’ You’re human. Decisions are just aligned or misaligned with your goals.”

    Practical Takeaways:

    • Start identifying areas in your life where you’ve been avoiding discomfort and take one small step to lean into it.
    • When making a decision, ask yourself: “Is this moving me closer to the life I want or further away?”
    • Reframe your relationship with mistakes or setbacks—they’re not failures, they’re feedback.

    Action Steps for Listeners:

    1. Reflect on one area of your life where you’ve been choosing convenience over growth. How can you shift to a more effective, aligned action?
    2. Identify one small, uncomfortable step you can take today to move closer to your goals—then take it.
    3. Remind yourself that decisions are neutral. Let go of guilt and focus on the next aligned step.

  • Strength Comes in the Struggle: How to Push Through When Life Pushes Back
    Jan 8 2025

Ever feel like life is pushing back just when you’re trying to grow? That resistance you’re facing—it’s not a roadblock. It’s the way forward.

In this episode, we dive into the necessity of resistance, how challenges shape us into who we’re meant to be, and why pushing through the hard moments is what leads to real strength. We also talk about timing and readiness—how sometimes, the things we want don’t happen when we expect them to because we’re still being prepared for them. And finally, we break down the universal truth that everyone has had a Day One—a messy, uncomfortable, “I have no idea what I’m doing” moment at the start of any journey.

I share personal stories, including my journey through infertility and how stepping into the unknown—whether it was running my first race, getting sober, or building a business—was never easy at first, but always worth it.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode:

    ✅ Why resistance isn’t a sign to stop—it’s a sign that you’re getting stronger.
✅ The reason God doesn’t always give us what we want right away—and how to trust the process.
✅ How to reframe Day One so that you don’t quit before you’ve even started.
✅ Stories from my own life that prove that the struggle always leads to something better.
✅ Practical mindset shifts to help you push through discomfort and keep moving forward.

    Key Takeaways & Quotes:

💡 “Resistance isn’t your enemy—it’s your training ground.” Growth happens when we push through discomfort, not when things are easy.

💡 “I pray that God doesn’t take me further than my character can sustain me.” (Christine Caine) Sometimes we’re waiting on a blessing, but really, that blessing is waiting for us to be ready.

💡 “Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle.” (Jon Acuff) Everyone has had a messy Day One—so don’t let that stop you from starting.

💡 “You don’t have to be good at it. You just have to keep showing up.” Whether it’s fitness, faith, parenting, or business—consistency is what leads to success.

    Topics Covered in This Episode:

🔹 The Truth About Resistance: Why struggle is necessary and how it prepares us for what’s next.
🔹 God’s Timing vs. Our Timing: The lessons I learned from our infertility journey and why things don’t always happen when we expect them to.
🔹 The First Mile Is a Liar: Why the beginning of anything new feels impossible—and how to push through.
🔹 The Illusion of Effortless Success: How social media makes us believe success is easy, when in reality, everyone has had a Day One.
🔹 Practical Strategies to Keep Going: How to shift your mindset when things feel hard, and why small steps matter more than you think.

If You’re in a Tough Season Right Now…

If you’re facing resistance, if you feel like you’re stuck in the waiting, or if you’re just afraid to start because you don’t know if you’re strong enough—I want you to hear this:

    ✨ You are not behind.
    ✨ You are not failing.
✨ You are simply in your process of becoming.

Whatever you’re working toward, whatever dream feels just out of reach, I promise you—you are capable of more than you think. The only thing standing between you and that next level? Showing up.

  • Staying Is Easier Than Starting: The Secret to Lasting Change
    Jan 1 2025

In this episode, we dive deep into a truth that can transform the way you approach your goals and daily life: Staying is easier than starting. Whether it’s staying fit, staying sober, or staying patient, consistency and momentum make all the difference. We’ll explore why the hardest part of any journey is often the beginning, and how to push through those tough early moments to create lasting change.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode:

    1. Why staying on track with your goals is easier than starting over—and how to build systems that help you stay consistent.
    2. The truth behind the phrase, “The first mile is a liar,” and how to overcome the hardest part of any journey.
    3. Why motivation doesn’t just show up and how small, intentional actions can help you create it.
    4. The power of showing up on the hard days and how consistency builds confidence and resilience.
    5. Practical strategies to meet motivation halfway and create momentum in your daily life.

    Key Takeaways and Quotes:

    • “The first mile is a liar.” The hardest part of any journey is getting started, but if you push through, you’ll find your rhythm and build momentum.
    • “Motivation isn’t waiting for you—you have to meet it halfway.” By taking small steps, you can spark the momentum that fuels motivation.
    • “Consistency is the mother of mastery.” (Robin Sharma) Showing up regularly, even in small ways, leads to transformation.

    Practical Tips from This Episode:

    1. Push Through the First Mile: Don’t let the initial resistance stop you. Whether it’s starting a workout, a new habit, or a big project, remind yourself that it will get easier as you go.
    2. Shrink the Task: On tough days, commit to the smallest possible step—like doing five minutes of movement or writing one sentence. Small actions create momentum.
    3. Set Triggers and Systems: Pair a new habit with something you already do. For example, drink water when you start your coffee or do stretches after brushing your teeth.
    4. Reflect and Realign: Regularly check in with yourself. Are your actions aligned with your priorities? What small adjustments can you make?
    5. Celebrate Small Wins: Every small step forward is a victory. Acknowledge your progress to stay motivated.

    A Personal Reflection:
In this episode, I share personal stories from my journey—like what I learned as a cross-country coach when I told my runners, “The first mile is a liar.” I also reflect on how sobriety taught me that staying sober is easier than getting sober and how showing up for myself, even when I didn’t feel like it, became the foundation for lasting change.
