Another Star Wars hit

This is the back story to Rogue one. It explains the relationship between Director Krennic and Galen Erso and how the latter came to work on the death Star. Krennic is one sleek dude and uses manipulation and coercion to get people to do his bidding. However eventually the Ersos catch on to his deceptions and flee. At first it sounded very technical with too much scientific jargon as the author tries to portray Galen as a super sientist but it gets better. I enjoyed the character of Krennic and found him to be quite deivious. At one point he even goes up against Tarkin. Yes our favorite Grand Moff is here too playing a bigger part than he did in the movie Rogue one. If you are hooked on the star wars audiobooks like I am and like to listen to expanded storylines and plots you'll like this one. You may not love it but I found it quite entertaining and certainly provides the back story to the movie. In addition, Jyn the Ersos daughter is introduced as well. Finally like with most SW books you get the great sound effects and incidental music along with the reading. Davis has narrated several SW books and does a great job.

Connects some dots

Great listen while on a 14 hour drive. Connected some dots and gave a richer perspective of the timeline.

Fun story of Star Wars politics and scientist

It was nice to hear a story not all action but with politics, ambitions, integrity, and tricks.
I'll listen to it when I'm up to a calmer, fun story.

Riviting connection to the movie.

Enjoyed the intrigue and plans within plans. Would love this to be a movie! Prequel to a prequel after the prequels? lolz

A Good Prelude

This novel complements Rogue One very well, and depicts an interesting power struggle between two of the Empire's top officials. Well written and well performed.

One of the worst novels in the new canon

This was a struggle to get through the whole way through. The characters and the storyline weren't compelling enough. I loved many Star Wars novels - Bloodline, Phasma, Master and Apprentice, Dark Disciple, the Thrawn trilogy (number 2 was not so good), etc. But this book was a lot of words for a few basic points...
