About this listen

From New York Times best-selling author, Penelope Douglas, comes a new stand-alone!

Three of them, one of her, and a remote cabin in the woods. Let the hot winter nights ensue....

Tiernan de Haas doesn’t care about anything anymore. The only child of a film producer and his starlet wife, she’s grown up with wealth and privilege but not love or guidance. Shipped off to boarding schools from an early age, it was still impossible to escape the loneliness and carve out a life of her own. The shadow of her parents’ fame followed her everywhere.

And when they suddenly pass away, she knows she should be devastated. But has anything really changed? She’s always been alone, hasn’t she?

Jake Van der Berg, her father’s stepbrother and her only living relative, assumes guardianship of Tiernan who is still two months shy of 18. Sent to live with him and his two sons, Noah and Kaleb, in the mountains of Colorado, Tiernan soon learns that these men now have a say in what she chooses to care and not care about anymore.

As the three of them take her under their wing, teach her to work and survive in the remote woods far away from the rest of the world, she slowly finds her place among them.

And as a part of them.

She also realizes that lines blur and rules become easy to break when no one else is watching.

One of them has her.

The other one wants her.

But he....

He’s going to keep her.

What a great story

Such a great book and narrators did the characters really well. This is my second Penelope Douglas book and it did not disappoint.

Very Spicy

The beginning of this book was a little slow for me. I had no idea what I was jumping into just
that so many people recommended it. The story line lacked a bit and left me wanting more information on the relationship with her parents. I did enjoy the amount of spice and detail put into it, but definite trigger warning if you dont like young female and older male relationships.

Spicy sweet story that I loved

My only issue was the narrator for the tiernen was very monotonous at times, still a great listen I couldn’t get enough of just wish there was a little more umph to her

Not for everyone, but wow

Taboo? Yes absolutely. Sexy? Oh yeah. If you're easy to cringe this is not a book for you. If you're sensitive to certain sexual topics, I wouldn't read this.

But it was hot. It was hard to pause and walk away from. Definitely a binge worthy listen.

Yikes

Alright. Where to start? The skeleton of the plot is the same tired trope we haven't yet tired of reading: innocent teenage girl who needs help but slowly grows a backbone. Girl meets much older man (at least this time not a 500 year old Fae) and although they're at odds, they fall in love.
Spoilers: tw attempted rape
This time, however, there are three. Step Uncle, abusing his position of power. Cousin #1 who is fairly decent if not overly persistent. Cousin #2 who treats her like shit, tries to rape her twice, spits on her, and writes "slut" on her in sharpie.
Guess who she falls in love with?

So edgy and unique

Read the book and found it to be intriguing. The audible did not disappoint. So many stories out there follow a similar story line - Credence had its own theme and was outstanding and so raw. Unexpected ending. Totally worth a read or listen

Spicy 🔥

Was it great for spice? Absolutely. The story was entertaining. Could it have been just as spicy without the barely legal and quasi-related pieces. Probably. But I’d still read again.

I was left wanting more of everything re: Noah.

The narrator for Jake was hard to listen to, it sounded more like an intense detective in a film-noir.
