About this listen

From New York Times best-selling author, Penelope Douglas, comes a new stand-alone!

Three of them, one of her, and a remote cabin in the woods. Let the hot winter nights ensue....

Tiernan de Haas doesn’t care about anything anymore. The only child of a film producer and his starlet wife, she’s grown up with wealth and privilege but not love or guidance. Shipped off to boarding schools from an early age, it was still impossible to escape the loneliness and carve out a life of her own. The shadow of her parents’ fame followed her everywhere.

And when they suddenly pass away, she knows she should be devastated. But has anything really changed? She’s always been alone, hasn’t she?

Jake Van der Berg, her father’s stepbrother and her only living relative, assumes guardianship of Tiernan who is still two months shy of 18. Sent to live with him and his two sons, Noah and Kaleb, in the mountains of Colorado, Tiernan soon learns that these men now have a say in what she chooses to care and not care about anymore.

As the three of them take her under their wing, teach her to work and survive in the remote woods far away from the rest of the world, she slowly finds her place among them.

And as a part of them.

She also realizes that lines blur and rules become easy to break when no one else is watching.

One of them has her.

The other one wants her.

But he....

He’s going to keep her.

Thrilling!

wow. loved this book was hard to pause, was not what I expected, but not disappointed at all. Jack's voice at first I found annoying but once the story line got going I didn't even notice.

Taboo Romance

This book....it confused me and made my brain explode but it was so so good. It was so beautiful to follow Tiernan's journey of coming into her own and finding herself. It was also amazing to see how she impacted each of the guys. She made Jake open up and accept love, Noah was able to find himself and move towards a future with happiness and Kaleb...wow just wow. It keeps you guessing in the best possible way.

And that epilogue was perfection.

Totally unexpected- but man was it spicy

I downloaded this book based off of a tik tok review. I had ZERO clue what I was downloading. I was definitely red in the cheeks listening to it at first- completely blindsided by the hot and heaviness of it. I persevered and looked forward to listening everyday. Great book 🔥🔥🔥

Felt juvenile

I really wanted to like this book after seeing it listed as a favourite of several people on TikTok but I just couldn’t get into it. The plot was very simple and predictable and the characters were also. It was definitely spicy, that’s for sure, but it felt like that’s what carried the entire story, nothing else. Moreover, the writing felt like it was for a fifth grade audience, very cliched and uninspiring.

Once I Got Into It I Really Enjoyed It

I will admit it took me a bit to get into this book. I’d seen it a lot on instagram so thought I’d give it a listen. However once I got into the book I throughly enjoyed it. I was especially happy about the fact that there was several narrators for the parts of the book and they all did a great job.

This is the third Penelope Douglas book I’ve read/listened to and she definitely didn’t disappoint me. Is it strange? YES. Is it taboo? YES. Will it make you question your morals? YES. Would I recommend it if that’s your thing? DEFINITELY!!

Listen though if you’re not into family sharing … not blood related … then this book is NOT for you. Some people might get a bit squeamish due to the age gap or an uncle and niece or cousins getting it on (again NO blood relation between the FMC and MMC’s). However if you like Penelope then you’re aware of her mind and would probably really enjoy this book.

Really likes it. Good plot with a lit of spice. Read the warning before reading

One of my favourites from this author

I feel like I will forever be chasing the high of reading this book for the first time again. I read it before listening and I am glad for that because the guy who reads for Jake is not great. The Indian accent he does for Merie is just… awful. The rest of them are awesome! The story is wonderful and the spice is scorching

No in between either love it or hate it

Tons of cringe worthy moments in this book but if you can get past that the smut is fantastic. Absolutely nothing acceptable in the real world in here.
It’s basically about 4 emotionally fucked up people trying to figure out how to cope/find happiness through unhealthy relationships/sex partners. (In my opinion.)
There is no excuse for the actions of some of the characters in this book but the author gives you a glimpse of why some of the characters are so fucked up.
I usually can’t get through books with “Non Con” (non consent…. rape) in them but I got through this one. There is one attempted and one that starts as sex, turns to rape then escapes before completion of rape if this is a trigger for you.
17/18 year old losing her virginity to an uncle in his 40’s is pretty disgusting too. There are other triggers in this book so this book isn’t for everyone.
I saw lots of negative comments about the narrators but I thought they did fine.

Great story

Loved the story of Caleb and her. The rest was interesting and still romantic in its own way. Not blood related so I didn’t find it odd
