I would recommend buying the book and reading it! The narrators voices of the characters really ruins the story

When narrator simply reads it’s fine but bizarre choice of kips kind of looney tunes new york. gangster type voice very distracting and wierd. Hard to think this voice choice made it to the finished product

The book that started a franchise that birthed the hottest show on TV—Heated Rivalry—is essentially Episode 3 of the show; the one that revolves around Scott Hunter and his smoothie-making boyfriend, Kip. When I watched the show, I told my GF that I could easily watch many seasons of Kip and Scott because they were so adorable.

This book is a lot like what you see on TV, with the “secret lovers” angle and all the rest: the big reveal, you name it. I’ve no issue with gay erotica, usually, but the sex scenes in this one were…a lot to listen to. More than my vanilla CIS-male brain was able to handle, to be honest. The hump-free parts of the book are great, though. My biggest beef is the narrator, who just didn’t do it for me. He made Kip sound more like a moron than the intelligent young man he is supposed to be. And his Rozanov is actively bad. Sorry, Tor.

Finally got around to listening to this a few weeks ago after it’s been on my TBR FOREVER!

This is suuuuuch a sweet and cute story. Absolute coffee shop AU vibes. I mean we all know this was a Stucky fanfuc but as a Stucky shipper this just made me enjoy it more. it thrills me to no end that Rachel is bisexual, Canadian, a hockey junkie, successful AF in this genre and a DAMNED good writer. Like DAMN GURL get it. and this story is so heartwarming I was like 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 for most of it.

So TL:DR kip the hottest muscly gay to work at a smoothie shop is just chilling when the hottest dude ever comes in to get a smoothie. There’s a zing a crackle… GAY LIGHTNING in the air if you will. And they flirt over a blueberry smoothie. And it turns out that the hot customer was the captain of the New York admirals, Scott Hunter and str8?! Apparently??? But skip thinks that’s sus. See: gay lightning.

That night. Scott lights the lamp and has his best game ever and skip is all hearts a flutter.

Next game day, Hottie McScottie is back for the same smoothie cause ritual right??? And he’s still flirty and things ramp up suspiciously over the next home stand until Scott just… INVITES HIM TO A GAME????

Cue panic but Skip goes… and things PROGRESS! there’s no way Scott is into him but he’s waving at him at the game and when Skip works a charity function as a server and runs into a tuxedo’d Scott… ooof 😅 Scott asks him for a late dinner???? And are they dating now??? How can Skip say no, even if it has to be in secret cause of Scott’s job. He’s the hottest man on the planet!

The courtship is hot and sweet and type of relatable sad that any millenial or elder queer has felt over being closeted from being in a h0m0ph0nic work setting.

Rachel writes from a beautiful perspective and laced fantasy with reality in a wonderful way and wraps it up with a wonderfully rewarding HEA that we all deserve as hardworking QU33Rs.

Tor’s version of Scott has the sweetest disposition and gave me heart eyes the whole time. I enjoyed the audio immensely.
