Love it. Suspenseful. Better than it's movie. Narrators nailed it. Provocative. Enticing. Thrilling. Very recomendable

I actually seen the movie first which was quite good. The book was also great. I like the way the story switch between characters and how the truth of each character unravelled. Not a happy ending book but probably more true to reality and scary for it.

I quite liked the Ben Affleck/Rosamund Pike film treatment of this book, and, yes, having seen it "spoiled" some of the twists in the plot. Still, I found the book entertaining. Gillian Flynn is a bit over-the-top with the "Media sensationalism" and "manipulability" themes in her story about a wife going missing [unapologetically stealing details (and examples of media/public paroxysms) from the Scott + Laci Peterson case].. but does a nice job dropping hints and incorporating foreshadowing into the narrative (she catches your attention + makes you read/listen closely).
Furthermore, her central characters are so incredibly unlikeable that readers simply watch the events while not really caring how it turns out. It's an interesting "can't-look-away" car-accident-in-progress experience.. with no investment (i.e. a good beach read).

As to presentation, Kirby Heyborne was miscast as 'Nick Dunne', but still exhibits a great emotive performance (his reading timbre is just a bit too young-sounding for the character). Julia Whelan, on the other hand, is absolutely spot-on in her portrayal as 'Amy Elliot-Dunne'. Random House Audio Inc. provide exceptional technical support to a talented pair of narrators. This very professional recording is solidly "above-average".

Altogether, I give this audiobook version of 'Gone Girl' 9/10-stars. It was a Credit well spent. I tend to prefer books with supportable characters - and this one has none - but, regardless, it was a fun roller-coaster ride that didn't require a lot of deep thought. It's a surprisingly enjoyable "Selfish A**hole married to Clinical Sociopath" story.

Everybody should read it.
