Publisher's Summary

WINTER

Sending him to prison was the worst thing I could've done. It didn't matter that he did the crime or that I wished he was dead. Perhaps I thought I'd have time to disappear before he got out or he'd cool off in jail and be anything but the horror he was. But I was wrong. Three years came and went too fast, and now he's anything but calm. Prison only gave him time to plan. And while I anticipated his vengeance, I didn't expect this. He doesn't want to make me hurt. He wants to make everything hurt.

DAMON

First thing's first. Get rid of her daddy. He told them I forced her. He told them his little girl was a victim, but I was a kid, too, and she wanted it just as much as I did.

Step two.... Give her, her sister, and her mother nowhere to run and no fuel to escape. The Ashby women are alone now and desperate for a knight in shining armor. But that's not what's coming. No, it's time I listened to my father and took control of my future. It's time I showed them all - my family, her family, my friends - that I will never change and that I have no other ambition than to be the nightmare of their lives.

I love this book

Out of the entire series this book was my favourite both to read and listen to. Both the fmc and the mmc are so deeply traumatized by each other and their families but in a way that doesn’t seem too over the top. Was the mmc go through as a kid friggen haunts me… the pain he felt is gut wrenching and his obsessive love for the fmc is unique and salaciously villainous. I will listen to this again and again chasing the high forever.

Good story

I was definitely most excited for Damon’s story, he’s a very messed up complex person and I needed in his head. You truly do end up feeling for him. There was the sub plot with him and will that kinda came out of nowhere and wasn’t really explained much when I felt I needed more explanation…. Maybe I’ll get it in wills book. But all and all, good story, I’m also just not a big fan of the guy narrator. He sounds a lot older then Damon’s suppose to be.

Love it !!

Better than the first two in my opinion. the story was more emotional and dark, we learned more about the characters and their special bonds. Damon has his redemption with this book.

Devils night is one of my favs

I think I liked Kai’s book (hideaway) more not sure. But I’m going at calling what’s going to happen in books and I did just that with this book. Damon is messed up and the most complex character I've ever read about. I’m sorry but rika continues to piss me off and winter has about 6 brain cells. Didn’t think anyone could have less then rika but I was wrong .The audiobook itself was flawless absolutely amazing and proves the whole reason I prefer audiobooks x

Winter and Damon

This tied up a lot of loose ends and Damon’s story feels fairly segregated from the others. More hidden and less obvious as he clearly was struggling. The backflips this story does is phenomenal.

As far as winters 2 brain cells, well her and Damon have quite the history and I feel any teenager and young adult would have that level of response considering the history. I won’t spoil it; you don’t get all the details in the first half.

I like the male narrator. He does a great job of all the male voices, including accents which is nice he tends to have one tone for the women but it doesn’t bother me. I find women doing men’s voices is weirder 😅

A Dark and Twisted Journey

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥

📚E-BOOK📚&🎧AUDIO🎧

Penelope Douglas takes readers on a chilling ride in "Kill Switch," the third installment of the Devil's Night series. Narrated by Tatiana Sokolov and Jeremy York, this gripping tale delves deep into the darkest corners of revenge, redemption, and unexpected alliances.

As a seasoned reader of Douglas's work, I approached "Kill Switch" with both anticipation and apprehension. The focus on Damon, a character I once despised, promised a journey fraught with moral ambiguity and emotional turmoil. And oh, how Douglas delivers.

The narrative thrusts us into a relentless game of cat and mouse between Winter and Damon, two souls intertwined by fate and haunted by their shared past. Damon's descent into darkness is both heartbreaking and mesmerizing, his thirst for vengeance blurring the lines between hero and villain.

For the first half of the book, I found myself grappling with conflicting emotions towards Damon. His actions, fueled by a thirst for retribution, tested the limits of my empathy. Yet, beneath the layers of pain and rage, lies a wounded soul yearning for salvation.

Winter, though a compelling protagonist, left me divided. While I empathized with her plight, her choices often left me questioning her motivations. Nevertheless, her resilience in the face of adversity commands respect, even as her tangled relationship with Damon threatens to consume her.

Douglas's masterful storytelling shines brightest in the intricately woven layers of suspense and intrigue. The palpable tension between Damon and Winter simmers with undeniable chemistry, culminating in a climactic showdown that will leave readers breathless.

"Kill Switch" is not for the faint of heart. It's a rollercoaster of emotions, a testament to Douglas's skill in crafting complex characters and gripping narratives. As Damon and Winter navigate the murky waters of love and vengeance, readers are left questioning where their allegiances truly lie.

In the end, "Kill Switch" is a haunting tale of redemption and forgiveness, reminding us that even the darkest of souls yearn for a glimmer of light in the shadows. Penelope Douglas once again proves why she's a master of dark romance, leaving an indelible mark on the genre.

Unexpectedly enjoyable

I almost didn’t read this because Damon was my least favourite Horseman, but this was ultimately my favourite book so far. I really enjoyed the male narrator
I have not been a big fan of any of the female characters in the series but Winter was definitely my least favourite. And the female narrator was good but her enunciations were odd to me.
Overall it was a good read and I enjoyed Damon’s character development.
