Publisher's Summary

The future of the Ashaiian haven, the newly founded Kingdom of Cael, is anything but secured. Rezkin must seek recognition from the King of Gendishen if his people are to maintain possession of their island home and the enchanted secret it contains.

In an unexpected twist, events overtake Rezkin, and he is thrust into a frustrating adventure to seek a worthless prize. He finds that his carefully constructed reputation as an indomitable foe has consequences as others seek to use his strengths for their own gain. Meanwhile, friends are confronted with too many truths, power and strength might be more than some desire, loyalties and friendships are tested, and at least one of Rezkin’s friends might be headed for a miserable demise.

listened to all 4 books in about a week and a half

Great series if enjoy Overpowered main characters.
Ending was not what I expected. Only a small let down, but that was mostly biased as I wanted it to my way.

Decent Progression

the story moves along nicely, just wish a few of the story tendrils would tie off at some point. still a solid listen, as always Nick does his magic and makes the story fun to listen to.

OK story, very drawn out.

Every time Frisha opens her mouth, makes we want to turn this off.
There has yet to be a more annoying character with absolutely no skill or use in the story other then to annoy you.

The main character start form book 1 has mysterious and powerful, now by book 4 he has become pitiful and weak. I know the author is keeping all the annoying character around just to show how the main character struggle to find humanity, but all it accomplish was to make me frustrated every time they talk.

Kept me interested

Overall, enjoying the series so far. I like the fact that he’s skilled at just about everything. The story is quite interesting, definitely an adventure. Some things are a little redundant, like how Rezkin is clueless about simple things. This series would have been so much better if Frisha was less irritating. She’s whiny and blah. Literally any other female character (with the exception of Sheila) would have been a better choice for his “love interest”. I’m still eager to see what happens in the next book! Lots of mysteries I want solved.

Solid Entry

So I still struggle with some of the female characters and the way they are written. That aside I do like the intricacies of the plot.

The story has been driving forward nicely, but the lead needs more setbacks or some failures.

It’s crazy during some of the scenes that no one ever shows the true horror of what was done to Rez as a child.
