About this listen

As the zombie epidemic wanes, one community hopes to expand—but a menacing rival group will do anything to stop them—in this post-apocalyptic horror series.

On the isle of Big Tancook, Collie Jones is making plans. She informs her fellow islanders that it’s time to resume her original mission: to find other survivors of the apocalypse, screen them, and bring them back with her. Every person who joins them is another valuable addition to their skill and gene pool.

But first, Collie must return to the place from whence she originally came and secure the elaborate government bunker known as Whitecap as well as its vast store of munitions. Assembling a team that includes mountain man Gus Berry, Collie returns to the mainland—and confronts a new enemy.

It seems a rival group is also determined to locate survivors, intending to build an empire. And they don’t like competition . . .

You like zombies? You’re in for a riot.

This is an absolute gem of a zombie story. Plus! It’s set in Canada!

I have gone though my fair share of zombie stories and the dynamic of the author’s amazingly concise, yet descriptive story and RC Bray’s rendition of it makes me see the scenes as clearly as I was watching it on the Tube.

Looking forward to Book 6!

Keith C. Blackmore does it again with this welcomed Mountain Man edition. Between cringing at some of the brutality, worrying as to how the characters were going to survive one danger after another, getting to know new characters and welcoming old ones, I found myself laughing out loud as Mr. Blackmore laced even the most tense moments with humor. I have to admit, though, that I miss hard-core, booze-guzzling, brave, dumb, brilliant, sour, sweet Gus from the previous installments. In Book 5, Gus is so busy capitulating to Collie Jones that there are just brief glimpses of that wry, audacious guy whom I have come to know and love. In spite of this, Make Me King is a fabulous listen especially since R.C. Bray is telling us this intriguing tale. Bring on book 6!

Maybe my Fav in the series

I struggled with the start of this series. While I liked alcoholic Gus, it was not super eventful. But everything has led up to now. New kick ass characters, storylines and vilians!

I have sped through book 4 and 5, and I can't wait to continue six! But seriously I listened to this one in a weekend. You will not be disappointed!

Oh my :))

Absolutely solid and perfectly performed. Unique scenario's, dramatic, edge of your seat thrilling, and sad in some places. Looking forward to book 6 "I hope"?

i need some Captain after this one

really like this next book in the Mountain man series. i didn't enjoy it as much as the previous books but in saying that it was really good. I believe no matter what your of this opinion this book it was necessary to advance the Mountain Man story. In books and shows you need an information filler season or book to drive the story ahead and that's what i feel this book is. don't get me wrong it was a well written and had lots of substance, i feel the next chapter will be epic because i have faith in Keith C Blackmore.
great listen well worth the purchase and my biggest complaint is that i don't know how long i have to wait for MM6.
Keith from a fellow maritimer(NB) I'm glad i found your books and keep up the great work!!
R.C. Bray love your books you have ruined me to be able to listen to a lot of different narrators. The mountain man series is what introduced me to you. Love your work keep it up and i hope you have a pocket of time carved out in your busy schedule for MM6 AS SOON AS ITS DONE, because we need morrrrrrree!!!!!!

Excellent

Love this series. My only note would be the narrator pronounces ‘toque’ incorrectly . Doesn’t take away from the story !

A worthy Sequel. Incredibly Fun

In a world fighting coronavirus, novels about dystopian futures are particularly engrossing. Blackmore's vision of a post-apocalyptic Canada is somewhat disturbing. The 'Road Warrior' meets 'Walking Dead' approach, as cartoonishly ridiculous as it is, actually made me take pause and think.
This is obviously 'fiction', but the way some real-life people are acting during our pandemic suggest bands of roving sociopaths could actually happen. Regardless, this book is a blast.
Blackmore's descriptions are vivid and humorous. His pacing is break-neck. His chief characters are engrossing. Unfortunately, most of his peripheral figures are pretty shallow.
I would love to know Bruno or Corey's backgrounds. What is Monica's deal? Coming in the next book, I guess.

R.C. Bray is, well, R.C. Bray...best narrator in the Business.

This continuation of the "Mountain Man" series is fantastic, and could be read stand-alone, though it's set up for an obvious sequel. Bring it on.
8.5 out of 10 Stars.
