About this listen

Her city is under siege.

The zombies are coming back.

And all Nona wants is a birthday party.

In many ways, Nona is like other people. She lives with her family, has a job at her local school, and loves walks on the beach and meeting new dogs. But Nona's not like other people. Six months ago she woke up in a stranger's body, and she's afraid she might have to give it back.

The whole city is falling to pieces. A monstrous blue sphere hangs on the horizon, ready to tear the planet apart. Blood of Eden forces have surrounded the last Cohort facility and wait for the Emperor Undying to come calling. Their leaders want Nona to be the weapon that will save them from the Nine Houses. Nona would prefer to live an ordinary life with the people she loves, with Pyrrha and Camilla and Palamedes, but she also knows that nothing lasts forever.

And each night, Nona dreams of a woman with a skull-painted face...

Tamsyn Muir is my new favourite author and Moira Quirk by new favourite narrator

Moira has ruined me for other voiceovers. I want every audiobook read to me by Moira. Tamsyn has also introduced me to another world that I want to know absolutely everything about.

can't wait for the next one!

was significantly less confused in this one, Nona is such a sweet and lovable character and I enjoyed seeing the world we know expanded by the different perspectives, and also getting the world's backstory

Another great entry

just like the previous books Nona benefits from a second read to piece all the clues together. Still a great read as is and narration is top tier yet again.

It happened again!

Oh, my God, Tamsyn Muir has done it again! I laughed, I cried , I was confused , or I thought I knew what was going on , and that wasn't always the case. Well done, and now a long wait for Alecto the Ninth.

I love these books with an ache.

It astounds me that I can be made to so fervently love these characters through so many evolutions. Already desperately hungry for the next book.

not for casually listening well doing chores

Great book, get lost some times in the nuance and depth. but that's what ya get when you're half listening....might be better to read first. Still 5/5 ^ but I'm a pretty generous reviewer

I have no idea what's going on in this series

Look, I LOVED Gideon, and thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns in Harrow. But I was just confused by this one. I feel like half my brain must have fallen out, because I don't understand the setup of this book and how it follows the previous ones. I'm off to look up some plot summaries.

Loved it

This one won't suit everybody. It's mostly time spent with characters that I personally love. Very much a slow burn. And burn might oversell it.

And while it's not fast faced it can be tricky to get a handle on what exactly is going on. (Don't care. Be warned. You might)

Love the narrator.

Nice to get some of God's back story. (Not a sentence you get to write everyday and one that kind of sums up the quirky charm of the series to me)
