Jason Burke was a man hiding from himself in a small cabin high in the American Rocky Mountains when his simple, quiet life was shattered one night by what he first assumed was an aviation mishap. A really fun story where a guy hiding out disillusioned with the military boards an "aircraft" thinking it crashed and people need help. He's whisked away on a space adventure with synthetic beings and other assorted aliens he will soon call friends as well as making some powerful enemies on the way. Also some great narrating.

No political garbage. It's not a masterpiece but by today's standards it is. So far no agenda, no modern political garbage. Not the best thing ever written but it's not bad.

Yeah this is so cheesy. Narrator was fine but the story was trying so hard to be heroic you couldn't take it seriously.

Bit of a cozy sci fi. I really like Dalzelle’s other works (have read all the black fleet novels) but this one left me cold. It’s got some decent points and is kinda fun, but it’s a little YA for my tastes.

I know its sci-fi, but this is definitely on the Disney spectrum without even a sense of a possible future and reality. Like why would a bunch on mixed species accept a human as a captain that has no notion of the universe or travel within it. That said, if that's your thing I'm sure you'll enjoy it, but I prefer darker with a little grit over come by ah.
