Publisher's Summary
It is fall. CIA analyst Jack Ryan, historian and former Marine, is vacationing in London with his wife and young daughter. Suddenly, right before his eyes, a terrorist group launches its deadly attack.
Instinctively, he dives forward to break it up, and is shot. It is not until he wakes up in the hospital that he learns whose lives he has saved - the Duke and Duchess of Kent.
By his impulsive act, he has gained both the gratitude of a nation and the enmity of its most dangerous men - men who do not sit on their hate.
Patriot Games is a prequel to The Hunt for Red October and has all the excitement and energy of Clancy's famous first book.

Story
Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

Took a bit to get into but the development was amazing. So much different from the tv show on prime. I am glad I started the books. Officially hooked!!

Great story & excellent narration
Scott Brick rarely misses. He has great narrative skills. The story is really good, much better than the movie. Clancy is a master at filling in the details.

brilliant story, voice work meh
my only issue with the voice work is that he speaks in such a whispy voice he makes every character seem like they're about to cry.

A very anti bond novel
What I love about Clancy is he never has been a fan of the bond concept of the CIA and 6. Jack Ryan looks for clues and facts to solve the mystery.
In this novel I love how it's written as a prequel to Hunt for the Red October and explain how Ryan started with the CIA while covering things hinted to in Red October. Trouble and pain in the novel leads to excellent character development.

This narrator is amazing!
The narrator is incredible. His inflections and accents really make the story! I would definitely listen to another book of his.

Best Narrator yet
I think the narration on this otherwise run of the mill Clancy thriller is what really sells it. He does an amazing job and brings each character to life.
