Life/sleep savior!

Unlike some other sleep books, Alexis doesn’t “talk” down to you about all the things you are failing to do. She talks like a caring, funny, cheerleader of a friend who is giving you skills but also reassuring you that you are an awesome parent.

I owe her my sleep for helping me with my first child, and again I’m seeking her wisdom with my second.

Cannot recommend this book highly enough!

My baby sleeps 12 hours now

Honestly this book was a life saver. I implemented CIO using alot of tips from book (white noise, blinds etc). It took 3 days...1st day was torture I wont lie at 45 mins but night two was 25 and then bam....12 hours a night and it has been like that since month 7 and she is now 14 months and the happiest baby. Thank you.

Terrible jokes, but good content

She makes several jokes through the book, but most of them are awkward instead of funny... In the first couple of chapters, I was quite anxious with the fact that she hasn’t gone through any specific training/ education (MD or PhD training) that would give her credentials to reference good studies or good practices based on sound evidence based medicine, but I did my own research and found most of her references accurate. She probably has a good scientific/ medical advisor that went over her manuscript.
The most annoying part of my experience listening to her book are her senseless jokes, but other than that the SWAP strategy can be a game changer, so she gets enough points for that.

Alexis gets it.

It is clear that she deeply understands the struggles of being a parent and trying to navigate life with a newborn. Her advice is backed not only by experience in the trenches but by science. She has methods and recommendations for all types of situations and temperaments of babies. I can’t thank her enough for the gift of independent sleep that she has given both my children - and me! Read this book, follow her guidance and immediately throw all your other baby sleep guides in the recycling.

As an added bonus, her sense of humour is impeccable and speaks directly to the hearts of parents that have been pacing the room, patting their babies bum and shhhhhing them for 2 hours while they quietly enjoy nibbling a single cracker for dinner.

Nonsense

Honestly I didn’t get far. Her advice is to put your baby alone in a dark room with nothing. Also wants you to vax your new baby to the moon. This book is not for the natural or emotionally conscious mother.

Second time parent and very suspect of the information…

- no recap at the end of chapters making it very difficult to put into practice what was set out in the chapter… nap ninja master but have no idea how to accomplish it.
-dangerous information. Keep swaddling after APA guidelines. If your 3 month old is showing zero signs of rolling so you do her FERBER technique while baby is swaddle you’re asking for trouble. Also warning parents not to create “bad habits” if baby is sick. Your responsibility to your 6 month old fighting a “bug” is to keep them safe, so if that means more frequent feeds at night to ensure appropriate hydration and caloric intake so be it. Sleep is ebbs and flows and trying to prevent

Overall I got a ton of awful proverbial terms for sleeping but nothing concrete to put into action.

don't bother if baby is older than 6 weeks

don't bother if baby is older than 6 weeks - my baby is 10 months and I don't have time to listen to the age that I've missed out on
